Fiance and I are doing our premarital counseling with a pastor who won’t be performing the ceremony. We’ll be meeting with him for three one hour sessions. Should we get him a gift? Money? If money, how much? If he was performing the ceremony we would obviously give him the honorarium, but this is different. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

I’m so glad you posted this – our “sponsor couple” is hosting us for dinner at their house for our last session, and I hadn’t even thought about bringing them a gift – I’m so bad! I definitely think it would be a nice gesture. For us, we’ve had about 5 2-hour meetings, so they’ve given us quite a bit of their time.
Unfortunately I don’t have any ideas…I’m interested to hear what others suggest!

If it were me, I’d go for a combo of some homemade food (jam or dessert – whatever you’re good at) in a cute container and a book that could be useful as a counsellor.
