On the day of the wedding DH and I gave our parents heartfelt letters saying what they meant to us. After the wedding we printed them photo books.

If you have a Tuesday morning near you how about some really nice sheets. Even my roughneck husband loves good sheets, now that he knows there is such a thing.

My husband and I swear by the Leathermen Micra as a key chain. It’s amazing – pliers, wire cutters, mini screw driver, knife (obvs), etc etc. You could get one engraved with a short message! All the handy / outdoorsy / redneck guys I know love these.

Or an engraved flask?

@tanya4285:  Our dads sound alike. Does he have any hobbies? You could tie your gift into that, especially if you could personalize it too.

Something small that my sister got my dad, which went over way better than we thought, was a small men’s monogrammed grooming kit that included nail clippers, scissors, etc. It seems quite frou frou, but he works with his hands a lot and loves having this little small kit in his car to tidy up.

My dad also loves his pocketknife. He’s obsessed with camo (dont know why, he doesnt hunt!), so we got him camo house slippers for Christmas that he enjoys too (maybe a “Don’t get cold feet walking me down the aisle” note).

@tanya4285:  What about a special monogrammed beer mug he can keep in the freezer for that frosty glass of beer? You could package it with some craft brews or a 6 pack of his favorite brand!

tanya4285:  OOPS!!!  I linked to the wrong Leatherman last night.  The one that’s super awesome but still small enough for a (somewhat burly) keychain is the Leatherman Squirt PS4.  This is the one that has pliers (super handy) and a bunch of other great stuff.

tanya4285:  I got my dad and FIL cuff links to wear at the wedding, FIL loves Harley so thats what I bought him.  He loved them so much he didn’t wear them to the wedding bc he didn’t want to lose one! Doh! they make them in EVERYTHING, from bullet casings, to fly fishing lures and favorite sports teams or NASCAR drivers.  It was something personal and useful, and you know hes going to keep it in a drawer and thing of you everytime he looks at it.  awww…

tanya4285:  this might sound kind of lame but my dad LOVES the geico commercial with the camel. Every wednesday I get a text from him saying “uh ohhhhh guess what day it is?!?!” lol. I found a painted coffee mug on Etsy with that damn camel saying “guess what day it is”. I figured it would be perfect bc I know my dad would prefer something funny referencing a joke between us vs a “I love you daddy” kind of gift.
