My dad is a history buff. I am framing a historical map of our hometown for him as a thank you gift.
As someone who lives in a studio apartment with two people and over 1,000 books with the rest of the collections in our parents' homes you can never have too many books! Especially if they love them. It doesn't have to be a paperback. You could see if they have some collections that need finishing. Or books which are out of print.
Otherwise, you might try some nice framed photographs of their favourite cities. A sword or a mask? They can be hung up. I love the framed map idea from Mermaid1082.
Good luck!
Hmm, maybe tickets to something special? Or travel items? Art and/or history books that are rare and special (especially first editions!) can be so, so cherished. What are they into specifically? Where do they like to travel the most, or where do they have plans to travel again? What era in history are they the most into?
I would say the framed picture or the idea of books or someplace interesting to go to would be right up their alley. You could always do a google search for registry gifts in that criteria.

So my husbands friends got married and his friends want to chip in on a gift. They are insistant about going off registry (though I'm trying to talk them into it) but most of their gifts have been fulfilled so it's probably not that big of a deal to go off registry.
Anyways, I'm not liking the ideas they're coming up with but want to have a suggestion instead of just saying 'me no likey'. The friends are well-traveled and and also really like historical stuff. I don't want to get them books as they already have a ton.
Any ideas?
