A massage gift certificate, or something to pamper her.
Maybe once the baby comes there won't be time, but right now in my last month pampering of any sort would be welcome with too much enthusiasm.
A gift backet with some good food because hospital food is disgusting. Sandwiches, fruits & candy.
@troubled- That's a great idea, but she is a little weird about people touching her, haha.
@roxy_angell13- Ooo. That's a really good idea! I might do that!
Keep 'em coming!
For my SIL, I brought a dozen balloons (Mylar, not latex which most hospitals don't allow), a little stuffed animal for the baby, and a basket of goodies to get her through her hospital stay (candy, disposable cameras, snacks, diapers, nail polish, a cute tshirt, etc)
Something small - they are going to have a ton of stuff to drag home as it is! Why not wait until they are home to bring them a gift?
@crayfish: That's exactly what I was thinking. And with insurance plans what they are nowadays, it's not like you're really in the hospital long enough to appreciate anything while you're there...
I brought some cake that my friend requested from Starbucks and a candle that she could enjoy. She really like the gift!
She's here! Kennedy Faith is the baby's name. Haven't gotten any stats yet, but I got texted a picture! haha.
My friend and I live about an hour+ away from each other and I promised I would visit her in the hospital, so that's why I wanted to bring a little something. Nothing too huge.
I really like the idea of getting her some snacks and candy for her hospital stay and afterwards at home when she has to get up every 2 hours with the baby. I'm just not sure what else to put in there.
My best friend had a baby three weeks ago, and the day after, she emailed me a picture of the baby, so I had it printed and framed! She LOVED it! I also brought her a potted hydrangea, and a vanilla shake (at her request :-))
Take out certificate is AWESOME. I think I'm getting her snacks with a gift card to a good take out restaurant near by! It won't be too much to carry and she can use it right away! Thanks everybody for the great ideas.
Snacks, a nice heating pad thingy (the rice things, maybe?) and a new lip gloss!
I usually bring things that the NICU parents I deal with daily forget about. What is always forgotten: mittens (babies scratch their faces a lot), hats, socks, a nice warm baby blanket, sometimes they forget baby lotion and then ask for it (most hospitals don't have baby lotion on hand)
I usually bring something for momma too...just depends what she is interested in. Sometimes magazines or a book, sometimes nail polish and lipgloss, and always snacks because I agree, hospital food SUCKS.
A gift certificate for somehwere that does take-out/delivery.
DON'T get her something she's going to have to transport home when she leaves the hospital...all the flowers are nice, but really annoying ot have to carry home.
I went and saw her today! So precious. I ended up getting a basket of snacks for her, which my friend (and her mom) really appreciated. I didn't have enough time to get her a gift certificate to a restaurant, but I had already spent $30 on the snacks and gift basket! Lol.
We had a fantastic time visiting and I got to hold the new little one the whole time. :D

My friend is in labor right now and is going to give birth today! I'm so freaking excited for her. I want to go visit her tomorrow at the hospital and was thinking of getting something for them. I could always get flowers but... I think she would like something more useful. Any thoughts?
