My FH and I are puppy lovers. Like, reallyreally. We adore dogs. So we wanted to do something that would help the dog community. My parents are pro. breeders and take pride in the work they have done with dog health and genetics, public education and promoting responsible ownership. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by loving dogs as a kid and having moved to a big city with a small apartment, it’s been a bit heartbreaking to live without a puppy for so long (frequent trips home to visit the family pooches help quell the heartbreak a bit.)
So my FI and I talked last night (at the prodding of Mama LoveFool) to donate money to charity as a favor, in addition to our cookie buffet. Cookies AND puppies?? Is this heaven?
I contacted the ASPCA and upon recieving our donation, they will send us little cards (or even little bracelets, like the LiveStrong bracelets) for us to leave out for our guests that let them know that money has been donated in their honor, and encouraging them to donate as well.
My questions is, on a measely little budget, how much should we donate? We are having about 120 guests and as a budget-minded bride, I have cut out as many silly and unnecessary extras as I can. (This won;t be bare bones, I assure you. But there’s no need for some of the extraextras that go along with wedding planning.)
So bees, a little help here? How much is appropriate? If my budget allowed, I’d donate bajillions. As it is, a grand is way out of the budget. How much is enough? How much is too little?
