I am getting my dad nice cufflinks, since I am the first of four to get married and thought it would be cool for him to be able to wear them at all future weddings.
However, given that you both went to KU, you met your FI there, etc, I think that's a great idea - it actually ties into the wedding more than just giving him stuff from his alma mater that has nothing to do with you.
Plus you know he wants it!
I'm making my mother a scrapbook from when I was a bump in her tummy up to the present in chronological order with select school mementos and memories written in and a few pages to slip wedding mementos into.
I'm close to my stepfather, but not quite as close. So I'm making him a scrapbook of their dogs because he's insane about them. Planning to stage a bunch of special themed photos of them to put in.
Mr. Cappugcino was totally stumped about his mother so we're going to get her a mother ring or necklace with a stone representing him, his sister and one representing me as her new daughter. (also because both the sister and I are april babies and the diamonds flanking Mr C's birthstone will look nice.
Pretty stumped about Mr. C's father though. He's not into much of anything
I llike your idea of the team stuff, but rather than FOB dvd or in addition, would consider getting either a set of season tickets for him if you can afford. Or get a pair of tickets for a game and promise him a special day with just the two of you

I am at a complete loss as to what gift to give my prents (who are divorced). Buying for either of them is AWLAYS difficult since they don't "need" anything, or hint at what they want. That is, until my dad and I went shopping by accident.
We were in a store that sold things from the local colleges and pro teams, and he found several things he wanted but wouldn't buy for himself:
KU Mug
KU coasters
KU banner
Would this be overkill on the college things? I know he wants it, and we both went to school there (that's where I met my FI). I was also thinking of throwing in Father of the Bride on Blueray- we both love that movie.
I just have no idea. What are you giving (or gave) your parents???
