As a part of our wedding ceremony, we would like to present my FI’s two daughters with a gift to signify our family union. At other weddings, I have seen people give jewelry but neither of the girls (age 14 and 9 ) are particularly responsible and I would be afraid (and possibly a little upset) if they lost an item of real value. Do you all have any suggestions for meaningful gifts that we could give them?

Hmmm… I know I’m making my Bridesmaid or Best Man clutches
And then maybe if you did get some jewelry just go with a simple locket (find someone who sells jewelry on the side and can sell it close to wholesale cost… http://www.stuller.com is a wholesaler)
Then put a personal note in the locket for each girl… since they are both still young maybe you could put these notes as apart of your wedding album/scrapbook so they can be kept to look back on until the girls are older and can do this themselves =)
I think this would be low cost so if anything happened it would feel like such a loss.. but is still personal to each girl

We are using a the family medallion necklaces. They are not super pricey but are really meaningful. http://www.familymedallion.com. They look really nice, but can be worn casually too.

I don’t think the jewelry has to be expensive to be meaningful, so I would go with something inexpensive (love the locket idea). MAybe buy an extra, in case one gets lost. 🙂
