I've finished one girl, bought part of two others and still have two to go - and no ideas for them.

    Help get my brain rolling!
What was the best bridesmaid's gift you ever received and why?

I really like jewelry, like a necklace or earrings. Doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. Personally I like really delicate stuff. This is something I'm likely to wear for years and always remember where it came from.

I have never been a BM so I don't have a favorite gift.  Do these other two girls have any special interests or hobbies?  If so, maybe you can get a gift related to that so they'll be able to get a lot of use out of it.

I got all my girls the same things. I have a lot of drama going on so I needed it to be simple. I went to the coach store, got 4 pink (small) purses for each girl (BM too) and the color matches the sash on the dresses that they are wearing so its a usable gift for the day of the wedding. They were 50% off and I got them for $49.99. The sales woman told me about a bride who got all her maids a wristlit from coach. I thought that was a good Idea. They run $39.99. Good luck.

I think i'm going to make my girls little customized photo books from shutterfly or iphoto with special pics and memories of us.  Super cheap, really easy, very meaningful  :) good luck!

I am giving my girls a mish mash of stuff.

In a vintage cigar box (to match my vintage modern theme) I have put in:

a fascinator for them to wear with their dresses, a vintage hankercheif that I silkscreen their names and wedding monogram on, and then a little something personal to each person (For my scarf friend there is a thinly woven scarf from anthro, for my sister, there is a silk shift lingerie from VS, etc).

And tied the box with vintage twine with a little note

I am also going to go to Coach to get some purses for my BMs.  If you go over Labor Day weekend to an Outlet store, they have AWESOME sales going on. I also have a bridesman, so I will get him a money clip or wallet from there.

Good luck wtih finding your gifts!

I made jewelry: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/finally-finished-my-diy-bridesmaid-jewelry-and-gifts and gave them personalized black tote bags that turned out really cute.  If it were me, I would love to either have the bride pay for something I would need for the wedding- anything like a manicure or getting my hair done or the shoes or a hotel room for the night.  I think that would be a nice gesture, I wish I could do that for my BMs.

These can be pretty pricey, but if you have the means I think they make amazing gifts: city experiences. You can find them for most major cities in the U.S. -- just google it. Here's an example for NYC: http://www.newyorkfirst.com/floors/2.html

I'm making my MOH and my two flower girls bracelets. My MOH loves jewelery and my flower girls are very girly girls so they'll love them!

The one gift I liked that I wish I would have done (if i'd done traditional gifts, that is--i covered their dress, hair, and makeup instead) was the custom silver bangle bracelets and then have something sweet stamped onto the inside. Every girl can use a classic bracelet like that =]. I'm keeping them in mind for birthdays and whatnot

I'm treating my bridesmaids to a private yoga class (taught by my favorite instructor) the morning of the wedding.  I think an "activity" can be really personal and fun (great bonding too).  Most of us of us aren't super "yogis" or anything - I just think it will put us in a really nice place on such a hectic day.  I'm sure your girls will love whatever you get them.  Best of luck!

What about pearls? That's what I gave to my maid of honor. They are something you can use forever and they look timeless and are very classy and affordable.  I got colored pearls at Macy's for $40 (originally $100).

I love a lot of the ideas other people have posted!

The best gift I ever got as a bridesmaid was my cousin's wedding - I liked it so much I stole it and used it for my girls :)

I'm getting them each jewelry that is designed especially for them and hand-crafted. Each girl will get a different piece that suits her own style. The thing I really love about the designer is that she really takes time to get to you as the bride and what each of your bridesmaids mean to you. Then she designs each piece to tell the story of how special each of those girls is to you, and she writes a letter to each of them explaining what the gemstones are and what their traditional meanings are, and how that is a reflection of what they mean to the bride...

It's really unique and totally different, and just so heartfelt that when my cousin gave us our gifts everyone opened the their gift and read the letter and got misty eyed. It was just so special and I will cherish both the bracelet and the letter forever.

If anyone else is interested in her contact information - I don't want to shamelessly promote my designer just because I think she's an amazing find, but I don't want to deprive your ladies of her either. PM me if you'd like to get her contact info....

I'm ordering my 3 ladies custom monogramed canvas totes for groceries or the beach or school books. Eco-friendly and personal! I'm also filling them with some inexpensive goodies that I know they each like. i.e. cookies, soda, handmade chocolate candies (Downtown St.Paul Candyland anyone?!?! Heck yes!) I'm still trying to figure out what to get my MOH as an extra gift. She's alergic to many types of metals and what not so jewerly doesn't really work...hmm...

Oh and for my helper friend who I wanted to be my BM but politics between other friends got in the way ( I feel so guilty :( ) I bought her a pair of super cool earrings off of the Gilt Group.

    Two stand out for me:

    1)  One friend each giftcards to something we had mentioned (for me, it was to a restaurant I had been dying to try, for another one of her BMs, it was for a clothing store she really liked but was out of her usual budget).  This was back when we were in grad school so none of had the extra cash to splurge like that on ourselves normally and it just meant a lot that she listened so closely and remembered and wanted us to spoil ourselves a bit.  She also gave us framed photos of us together.

    2)  An initial pendant on a sterling silver chain.  It looked very much like a Tiffanys design but was not.  It's a practical but personal piece of jewelry and one of my favorites.

I am going to get them their bridesmaid dresses for the day along with the jewelery and then give them a special wrap they can use year round. I love large pashmina wraps so I figured they'd be something special.

I got a lotion set with body butter sparkling lotion and shower gel for a present. I like the body butter but I don't like scented lotions and literally have a closet full from various gifts people give me. I feel like lotions ect are very impersonal.

Give them something that you and they have in common.
