My little sis is about 10 weeks gone, so she has yet to officially announce but the family knows anyways 🙂 She would be due around mid December (summer down under).
I am starting to get together ideas for what to buy for her to help out. So far, I have come up with a little “starter kit” containing the following;
- Nappy bag
- Matching makeup bag and dummy holder
- Assorted clothing (000 summer suits and 00 winter suits)
- 4 x bottles
I am also making a mobile for her with assorted chickens and related items from felt (she is a chicken FREAK and loves anything chicken, plus yellow is her favourite colour).
Any other things I am missing that would be essential? I am going to be throwing the baby shower later in the year, when I get back from our honeymoon too.
Eee! So exciting! First baby in the family!

Lots of singlets for bubs. I found the. Invaluable Over summer. They are so much easier then bothering with doing up outfits

She won’t need the bottles of she intends to breastfeed and muslin wraps are great

I would add:
nipple cream (if she plans to breastfeed)
cooked-ahead and frozen meals for easy dinners in the first few weeks

If she plans to breast feed then I would get her some nursing pads, a nursing cover, bags to freeze breast milk in so she can freeze some so others can feed the baby when they watch him/her, and (like stated above) nipple cream. All those will come in handy. Something like this would be nice for NOW when she’s still pregnant: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4360537′ defer=’defer
This is something that will help her remember when she last fed the baby because sometimes when you are running on little to no sleep it’s hard to remember unless you right down: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3197294′ defer=’defer
If she has morning sickness I was told this helps: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2470712′ defer=’defer
Oh, there is also a tank top that fits tight under any shirt that has the came clips up top as a nursing bra so she can lift the top shirt without showing her belly. After having my son I was very shy about showing any extra skin so she might like that if she is breastfeeding.
I hope all this helps! These are all great gifts for the mom-to-be. Some are useful now and some will be useful after baby arrives but there are a lot of things she will need either way.
