We're getting each set a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant.
we're at a loss too! :(
We finally decided to give the moms a card saying we would take them to the Hershey Hotel for Sunday brunch after we return from our honeymoon. You have to dress up and the food is AMAZING! Aferwards we can walk in the gardens. I think both our moms will enjoy this.
I'm giving the mom's embroidered hankies. I'm not sure about the dad's. Probably only if we can think of something good.
www.thevintagepearl.com has some VERY adorable personalized jewelry items. I got both moms the "mother of pearl" necklace with their children's names engraved around the edge. They were very affordable and I got mine in the mail yesterday and I was shocked at how beautiful they are in person. I am going to get myself one!!
....now if I could just find an equally sentimental gift for the dads!!
We haven't figured out the specifics yet, but we're going to send both of our parents on some sort of vacation. Ideas have ranged from a weekend at a bed & breakfast, to a trip to visit us (we live in different areas of the country), to sending them on a cruise. They are doing a lot for us for the wedding, so we really want to thank them for that and all they've done throughout the years.
I love the other ideas listed! Has anyone noticed how moms are SO much easier than dads to shop for?!
I'm at a loss too. I actually had no idea you were supposed to get parents gifts until I started reading wedding blogs. Does everyone do this?
@mrsRtobe, you don't really HAVE to give gifts to anyone, but both sets of parents have done a lot for us, so I want to be sure to thank them properly.
@jenn344, I like that pearl necklace idea, I am going to have to check that out!
Thanks for all of the ideas!
I think we're going to get each set of parents a new digital camera if its in the budget. If not, we're going to do a really nice frame that they can later put our wedding photo in!
I'm up in the air with this as well!
MY MOM :
I know that I want to buy my mom a figurine of a mother and daughter (I gave her one when I was really little for mothers day and so it works well) getting ready on the wedding day.
HIS MOM:
I'm totally not sure...I was thinking about getting her a "spa" set...buying her a pair of nice sweat pants, some nice bath gifts, etc and making a set and putting it in a nice basket
MY DAD:
I have no clue....I need to figure that out :X I want something he can USE but also something meaningful and to show my love and gratitude
HIS DAD:
Beer glasses or something like that....a book about home brewing, etc (He does the whole hops thing and has a huge bar in their home)
what about brothers? My bro is 16 so a flask/etc is out....
I was just going to post about this as well. I know I am getting my parents a framed pieced of art that will be pretty pricey and I know I am not going to spend as much on his parents but not sure what to get. I know I could probably find something for his mom but I'd have no clue for his dad?? Also, I like the idea of a weekend away and a B&B but what if the weekend doesn't work? Can you just get a gift certificate?

I haven't heard anyone talk about what they are getting their parents (and in-laws) as thank you gifts. Personally, I have no idea where to begin with this and am curious to hear others' ideas.
