We MIGHT get them mini albums from our photographer (or do albums ourselves), but more than likely, not much. All of our money is going to the wedding, bills, and our house fund.

We paid for a hotel room for each of them – that way, they could enjoy the wedding and not have to designate a driver, etc.

I did a joint gift because I couldn’t think of anything to get them separately. I got them a customized message photo frame on Etsy. It has a personal message to my parents and a picture. I was able to put in what color I wanted everything too. They loved it, and it hangs in their living room now.

We got my in-laws a set of dishes, and my parents a restaurant gift card (dad’s favorite place) and a massage (for mom).  We just did it like Christmas – something more personal they’d like regardless of us getting married.

OMG this was so difficult for me. I was looking at a piece of jewerly but my FMIL is the type person who will not wear any jewerly unless it cost atleast $200+ and i can assure you i was not going to be purchasing anything like that. I finally settled on picture frames and after the wedding i will give them one of my photographers pictures to place in it. Each frame will be customized with my information. These were just the generic ones off the site.

We’ll give my parents a pair of these candleholders:

https://www.iittala.com/Home-interior/Candleholders-and-lanterns/c/Candleholders%20and%20lanterns?q=%3Aname-asc%3Aseries%3AFestivo

together with a note saying something along the lines of “Thank you for bringing so much light and joy to this day”. Nothing for FI’s parents, they are not contributing to the wedding, but more importantly – FMIL have been absolutely awful.

@ashleyr0512:  no probs – the best thing is that you get a super expensive frame (vera wang for my parents) & a simple less expensive one for his parents (not been as helpful) & they woudnt think twice about it!

@Nic01:  I wouldn’t dare get her anything less. When FI and I went to china we purchased some pearls for about $35 american dollars. When we returned and gave them to her as a gift she went THAT DAY to have them appraised. They were real (which we knew) and appraised for $250. But she still refused to wear them because they weren’t a match for her expensive taste
