I believe we are giving each set of parents a mini-album from the wedding. Our photog does them at a discounted rate.
I gave my mom and dad their own of this:
I got my mom this:
& this:
Any my grandparents (which could work for a dad) this:
For my mom- A beach tote (we're having a beach wedding) filled with Her favorite bottle of wine in a really cute personalized wine bag, a wine glass with Palm Trees etched into it, a jar of cookies wrapped up with our wedding colors, a book called "It's Her wedding, but I'll cry if I want to" and a double sided frame with our invitation in it, we will send her a picture of us at the wedding for the other half of the frame.
We gave our parents a canvas print of any wedding photo of their choosing. Obviously we could only initially gift them the "IOU/gift certificate" in a card - but they both LOVED the canvases once they got them after the wedding.
We are giving our parents matching champagne glasses and an empty photo album.. to be filled when we get the pics from our photographer :)
@Miss Seersucker: I just checked out the Exclusively Weddings website and was able to find something for my BM's. Thanks:)
I'm probably going to give my mom and stepdad tickets to the ballet or symphony, since I know they love that sort of thing.
I think that we are going to give our parents nice frames with our wedding date engraved, and when we gift it have a nice thank you note in the frame (they are helping with $$, but we are paying the majority). After the wedding I will make them each an album/scrapbook, and have them pick the photo they want to live in the frame.
I bought my mom a Pandora bracelet for Christmas, so I found a charm that matches our wedding "theme" for her to add to her bracelet. It's a little pricey (over $100!!), but it's oh-so-perfect.
Not so sure about my dad, but I want to get him something nice since we're getting married on his birthday!
@stranger1: That's a great idea! My FMIL loves Pandora and just bought herself one of the bracelets....and hinted that she needs to fill it with charms. I just looked on the website and they have starfish and seashell charms (we're having a beach wedding) Are all of the charms THAT EXPENSIVE?? WOW,that's alot for one little teeny tiny charm! :)
We gave my parents a little overnight escape. Tickets to a little theatre they really love, a night at a hotel, and dinner (it was a gift certificate). They LOVED it.
For my MIL, we got her a pair of tickets (great seats) to a Cirque du Soleil show that came to town, she was over the moon.
ETA - When I get my act together, they're also both getting a mini-album of wedding photos.
I found an etsy seller that makes these wooden wine holder things... that are engraveable. so it will have their names and their wedding date. there is a hole in the middle and then slits in the sides, so you place the wood board over the top of the wine bottle and then the wine glasses you hang from the slits... confusing? hahah
Anyways, i was going to get that, and then book them a night at a bed n breakfast on their wedding anniversary date along with a gift certificate to a restaurant they like.
is that good?

My parents are funding the majority of our wedding and I have NO idea what to get them each (they are divorced) for a gift. I don't want to just do a gift card because that seems so impersonable...but I am stumped! What gifts have you given parents in the past?
