So my bestfriend is getting married and I’m a bridesmaid! She’s getting married in Florida, I live in NC. Her bridal shower is in Florida and I am unable to attend- I’m not able to take time off of work to fly down for a weekend since I’m taking so much time off for the wedding! I really want to be there!!! and I want to get her something from her registry to send down there so she’ll have something to open from me at the shower, but do I also get her a gift for the wedding?? Should I spend a little more on a wedding gift and not so much on a shower gift? A little confused and just wanting to make her happy 🙂

Generally, BM’s get the bride a shower gift and a wedding gift. It’s up to you whether you spend more on one or the other, in the end the gifts are both for the couple anyway (even if it’s a lingerie shower – they’re really for HIM).

My suggestion and experience would be that you get her a gift for both the shower and the wedding, the shower gift needn’t be anywhere near as expensive or lavish as the wedding gift.

I guess it is the norm to buy a gift for the shower and one for the wedding. But most of the weddings I attended the wedding gift was either money or a gift card. The gifts were usually saved for the shower unless the person(s) couldn’t attend the shower.
I forgot to mention that for my BF’s wedding, I gave her an actual gift for the shower and gave her a card with money in it for the wedding.

Don’t feel like you have to spend too much money for her to appreciate the sentiment! A gift for both would be really nice, even if it’s more personal than something off her registry. After all, you probably know her one of the best! I only say this b/c i received a few items off my registry from my closest friends and family and they are WONDERFUL and I never would have thought to register for them.
Personalized stationary/cards (super duper practical for all those thank you cards! Especially if you have them custom made to say "soon to be" and then her new last name), an inexpensive pocket video camera, my favorite wine (that i can’t get where I live), etc.
