I always thought that I would get my mom and grandma silk hankies for the day of with mom and grandmother embroidered in them.
Just an idea.
We each got our parents a Lladro (figurine) because they collect them. I know that they will be so surprised!
I think I may get hankies for the grandmothers as all.
I ALMOST got my parents these relationship journals http://www.lilangelgifts.com/family.html. I ended up getting them for our MOH and Best Man and for my parents I ended up just getting them something I knew they wanted. For my mom I got her pearls to wear with her dress and I got my dad some hiking gear he had his eyes on.
Just found this waterford picture frame on sale. I think we are going to do one of these for each set of parents so they can eventually put one of our professional wedding pics in it!
We are planning on taking care of the parents hotel room for the night of the wedding. My fiance has plenty of Westin points, so it'll be free and we'll probably get them something else too, but I'm sure they'll appreciate it. Especially after all the cash they're already gonna drop that night!
My parents contributed a lot, so we ended up getting my parents gift certificates to a number of different restaurants in their area, put 2 bottles of wine in a basket with the GCs, and they loved it. Eating out is by far one of their favorite things to do, and they were using them all year!
We got gifts for our moms, one got a glass vase and earrings and the other got some nice bowls and a glass figurine. We gave the gifts to them at the rehearsal dinner at the same time we gave the gifts to our wedding party. For everyone else (dads, readers, people who helped out in general) we got them a thank you card and gave it to them at that time.
i don't think it matters if you get them something for during or after the wedding. i was going to get my mom a photo album too, but then i thought i would just get too stressed out because i'm making ours myself and i don't want to feel like i need to make it in a hurry, so we got our mom's really nice necklaces instead. we're getting his dad a gift certificate for a golf game and my dad a gift certificate to a restaurant he loves.
I don't think it matters when you give it. I personally like the idea of offering it at the rehearsal dinner, but after would be ok, too.
For our moms, we'll probably do something spa/pampering related. For the dads, I don't know-they play flag football together, maybe something to encourage that hobby!
I also saw a bee, I think it was Mrs. Mouse (?) who gave photobook IOUs before the wedding.
Hmm actually it looks like you already got married so you probably made a decision! :)
We got one set of parents a wine club subscription because they're really into wine. They loved it, and it's the gift that keeps on giving, you know? They still rave about it three months later.

I have no idea what to get for them! Are we supposed to get them something that they can have the day of/day before the wedding, or are we supposed to give them something after? If we do after, I can just get them a photoalbum, but if we do before, I have no idea what to get them.
Suggestions?
