It's pretty basic as far as info goes, but it's hysterical and a quick read. I recommend it!
I loved it. It's funny, so it's not a book going on and on. You learn a lot, I know I did. It's not textbook read, so that's the good part.
@inspiredcreationsbyhaley: and @MsMamaBear: Great! I am excited about starting it ever more now. So, do you think that it's more of a one time read than a reference book?
I didn't really like it, but a lot of my mommy friends did.
I also hear good things about Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy, but I haven't read that one yet.
@Mrs. Spring: What didn't you like about it? Thanks. I might check that one out.
Meh, I just didn't think it was that funny. It's marketed as giving newly pregnant women access to all the "hidden secrets" of pregnany, but it seemed like the same old, same old, to me. Yep, pregnancy sex is weird and uncomfrtable. Yep, your body is going through bizarre changes and you'll have a bunch of weird symptoms and raging hormones. Yep, your husband is going to think you're crazy sometimes, but will eventually adjust. All of the regular pregnancy books I read had the same information, it's just presented in a different format.
I liked Belly Laughs, too, but Girlfriend's Guide was the very first book I read and so the jokes weren't old. By the time I got to Belly Laughs, I felt the same way PP did about GFG. Belly Laughs is really short, though, so a great beach read.
This book, "The Best Birth", was BY FAR the best pregnancy/birth book I read. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0738211214 Much more informational, still with some humor thrown in, but certainly helped me have a stress-free delivery! When you do get pregnant, I very highly recommend it.
@Mrs. Spring: I felt the same way about Girlfriend's Guide
I like What to Expect - it's a good go-to if you're having certain symptoms, etc. Example, this past week I've had a horrible backache and figured it was how I was sleeping or from how I was sitting at work - but I look to read Week 18 in the book and it starts with something like "you may be experiencing back pain it's because..". Well, I'll be damned! lol
I did like Jenny McCarthy's book, too - I read it in an afternoon, not much of it applied to what I was going through but I did think it was cute. I don't want to spoil the ending but I'll just say I like reading that no matter how you give birth the most important thing is that both you and your baby are safe and healthy. I feel like other books put pressure on certain kinds of deliveries like that's the only way to do it. I have my ideas about how I would like to do it but I want to also know I'll be okay if that plan doesn't work out.

My sister's friend suggested that I read it. I am not pregnant, but I'm off the pill, and we're not preventing it. So, it could happen and I want to be as prepared as possible. Has anyone read this book? What did you think about it? I bought it on Ebay and it arrived on yesterday, so I will start reading it soon.
What are some other must-reads?
