I’m not getting married this weekend, but I did get married 3 weeks ago.

I felt numb. I travelled across the country to get married with 8 other people, and it still didn’t feel real. The days leading up to it, still didn’t feel it. I knew I was getting married, but I just felt like every other day. Even during the rehearsal and everything. It just hadn’t really sunk in yet.

I saw myself in my dress, hair done, veil in, ready to go and still didn’t feel it. It wasn’t until I saw my dad in his tux that it hit me. I lost it. I started bawling, but in a good way. It was the most incredible feeling. We took pictures with the girls and my parents, and then I was sent back to the bride room so the guys could take their pictures. Then my dad came back down to get me.

And that’s when the hyperventilating began. Oh yeah, those are gonna be some good pictures! He kept telling me just to breath. That he was so proud and how great a wife I was going to be. Then I ripped the hem of my dress on the stairs… lol

Once I saw DH at the end of the aisle, I was calm. I was ready to be a wife. HIS wife. And now I am.

I’m getting married tomorrow, it doesn’t feel real yet. Maybe it will when I take everything to the venue later today. I’m going to enjoy my last day and a bit as a fiancé. I’m just going to let it all go. Whatever happens; happens.

My MOH and her fiancee flew in yesterday; my boss let me play hooky in order to surprise them at the airport and take them to breakfast. 🙂  Tomorrow starts the major events, the fun things with our wedding party (we’re going ziplining on Saturday morning, amongst other things)!

I’m in the middle of my last hour and ten minutes of work as a single woman.  I said it once, I’ll say it again.. I NEVER thought I would be lucky enough to get married.  Wanted to, yes.  Dreamed of it, always.   Cried at all my friends weddings and secretly wondered if I’d ever be a bride.   I never felt pretty enough, worthy enough, special enough.   I am lucky enough to be marrying my best friend.  That in itself is so crazy and funny at the same time; was it love at first sight? Not by a long shot.   When I met my FI through work he was married and I was in a relationship. That was nearly 7 years ago and here we are.   When he tried to persue me (2yrs after his divorce) I just remember thinking, are you nuts?  I can’t date you!  You’re my FRIEND.  LOL.

I’ve been trying as best I can to keep the wedding chatter down as much as possible around anyone not involved in our wedding, so that I don’t drive anyone insane.  I’m 33 and had never been married, so many folks around me are married or have been married and totally don’t want to hear someone squawking about it.   That part is a bit of a bummer for me, because over the years I saw my girlfriends getting engaged and then married and people FAWNED over them like it was the last event they’d ever attend.  I wanted that so much.   But being that I’m the late bloomer, I didn’t get it.. and I felt horrible wanting to “ask” for it.   So, I just let myself be excited with FI and my mom (who has been just as excited as I have been) and my dear MOH.  I am so very lucky that I have the three of them.

All my best wishes and LUCK to all the bees getting married this weekend, and on into Monday, which is our wedding day, too. 🙂   Have an amazing time, enjoy every second, and soak in the LOVE around you!  That’s what I’m looking forward to doing!
