I’m after something totally new, unknown, a diamond in the rough if you may, but old. I want an old school song, from the 20s-80s that will have just the perfect lyrics and none of my guests will recognise!
@Baybeejulia: I totally recommend that you use the website/app called Songza and go through their curated playlists. Specifically, the playlist called ‘Lush and Plush’ has a lot of beautiful old songs from the 1940s to the 1960s, and I’m sure you can find one on there you’d like!
ETA: You can look for songlists categorized by decades too, and moods…
@Baybeejulia: our 1st dance song was Lior “ths old love”. He is a fantastic Australian singer & songwriter. The song was released in 2006 however, due to the folk and country influences, it sounds timeless to us.
At The Beginning by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx is from Anastasia (the animated movie by Fox) and is similar to My Heart Will Go On in style. The lyrics are great in my opinion.
We were strangers, starting out on a journey Never dreaming, what we’d have to go through Now here we are, I’m suddenly standing At the beginning with you
No one told me I was going to find you Unexpected, what you did to my heart When I lost hope, you were there to remind me This is the start
[Chorus:] And life is a road that I wanna keep going Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing Life is a road, now and forever, wonderful journey I’ll be there when the world stops turning I’ll be there when the storm is through In the end I wanna be standing At the beginning with you
We were strangers, on a crazy adventure Never dreaming, how our dreams would come true Now here we stand, unafraid of the future At the beginning with you
Knew there was somebody, somewhere A new love in the dark Now I know my dream will live on I’ve been waiting so long Nothing’s gonna tear us apart
In the end I want to be standing At the beginning with you…
