I was invited to a wedding that's happening on April 9. I want to give the couple a gift from their registry which is already 99% sold out. I am really torn on how to do it though. Should I have it sent to them? Is it too early to do that? Should I have it sent to me and bring it on the wedding day? Isn't that going to be a pain in the ass for them to have to lug it home? What do you guys suggest?

I guess it depends on how big it is. Family (or whoever they decide is in charge of that) could bring the gifts & such home after.

its a huge hassle to lug around gifts on the wedding day, i would def. ship to them...buy from their registry now though, don't wait any longer!

As a guest, I have never once attended a wedding where gifts were not brought to the wedding. But obviously everyone is different. Go ahead and buy the gift now while it is still available and take it with you. Depending on what the gift is, it may not be worth it to pay for shipping, especially if it is heavy or fragile, in which case the shipping can easily cost you more than the item itself, and there is no way to guarantee that it doesn't get damaged or broken in transit, which you can avoid if you take it along with you to the wedding. Only you can decide in the end.

Actually either is ok. It's up to you.

I had people who sent us presents before the wedding even though they came and mostly local people brought gifts with them.  Sending one now isn't too early.

@Selene - it has to be shipped either way, whether to me or to them, because it is only available on the company's website. And you're right - shipping is expensive!
