Any opinions on whether 4/$1.00 is a pretty good deal on small clear glass votive holders (sans candles)? The Christmas Tree Shop has them for that price (at least my local one does) and I almost just bought 200 of them, but I wanted to check with fellow bees about whether this is actually a deal or not. I think its probably pretty good, the best I've seen besides that were $1.00 each WITH candle. Do you think I can fill all those holders with candles costing less than $.75 each? Has anyone else come across a great votive deal they'd be willing to share? Thanks!
last week i came across a Michael's deal for 12 glass votives with candles for 4.00. it came to 33 cents each. best deal i could find, but it only came in white and ivory. no pretty colors like on cudge.net. let us know if you find anything better!
Wow! Cudge.net is pretty awesome- its cheaper for me to buy my holders from C.T.S. and then candles from them than it is to buy both the candles and holders together from them though- .42 as opposed to .51 each. The michaels deal still wins though bc I only want white candles in clear glass holders anyway. Thank you!!!! keep it coming ladies!
I bought the Michael's candles several months ago at that same deal.... however I ended up returning them due to their size. When I opened one of the boxes I saw that all of the candles were filled less than 3/4 of the way up the votive. I was nervous that they would not last the 5 hour reception. i could be wrong though!
I'm still kicking myself for returning several boxes of ridiculously cheap filled clear votives from the CTS last summer- at the time they were mixed boxes of white & ivory and I was being picky.... I keep hoping they will get them back in stock now!
I think that's a great deal. 25 cents each....sure is!!! I'm looking for the votive holders too, I'd like to find some frosted like the ones from Cudge. I got lucky and found white all-purpose, unscented, long burning (15 hrs) votive candles @ Kmart for $2...About 3 weeks later, they marked them down to 75 cents a box but I had all I needed. I still think the $2 per box I paid was an awesome deal.
Cudge shipping costs are a lot! that's what stopped me from ordering the votive candles from the site.
Cudge advertises their candles as being smokeless, are regular candles different? i feel like I haven't seen other candles marked as "smokeless" in Michaels so I'm confused
Oh yes, silly me, I did forget to check the shipping costs! BUT although I don't live in NYC I might be visiting it soon... hm... the plot thickens :o)
I used candle4less.com to buy my votives. I got 288 flower pot votives including votive candles for around $.74 each including shipping. And I did a burn test with the candles and they burned well over 6 hours.
I also used candles4less.com. I had them shipped directly to my reception location and that is out of town so I haven't seen them yet, but they are running a special right now: 72 candles and holders for $34.99. I ordered 3 of those totaling 216 candles (including holders) and the shipping was $26.59. I think that is pretty reasonable considering the weight of the glass holders and the shipping for ground is around 3 business days.
If you have a Big Lots location nearby, they are selling the SAME votive candle packs just like Michael's but I think they are cheaper. They sell 12 for $4.99 which comes about the about .41 cents each.
QUICK TIP- before you light the candles to decorate for the big day, burn the wick at home for just a few seconds and then when the wedding day arrives, the candles will light quicker!
