I also have some black framed glasses that I love to death...but I also wear contacts and will be wearing them on my big day. Is it possible to just wear contacts for that day? of course you may have to wear them a couple of weeks to get used to them.
Of course...I googled some images for you and these brides are happily rocking the glasses...
I'm a confirmed convert to contacts -- I love mine, now I've got used to them -- but I've definitely seen brides wear their glasses, and it looked great.
And if people are used to seeing you wear your glasses, they may not think you look like 'you' without them, you know? And you may not feel like you, either.
Would you maybe look at getting different, dressier frames for the day, if that would help?
ooh! i wear glasses too (mine are a reddish/maroon thick plastic frame instead of black - hello! the fiance would definitely notice if they were gone! lol). i toyed with the idea of wearing contacts - i even got fitted for a pair (exam and everything) and wore them for a few days, but my eyes couldn't handle them. the contacts irritated them wayyy too much. "/ soo, instead, i found this gorgeous pair of glasses that i plan on hunting down for the big day. i think the bronze/blush ones and the pewter/pearl ones are very classic/antique bridal. now, i'm super excited about being a "four-eyed bride". ;P
ohhh i love those pics! gives me hope. =) and yeah - contacts irritate my eyes like mad, i'm not sure i'd be able to handle it.
props to nerdy-glasses-glamour!
I too wear glasses- I have two pairs; a beautiful blue pair and a lovely red pair. I thought about going with contacts for my wedding next September, but I realized that's not who I am. I do not wear contacts- ever. I have worn glasses since I was a teenager and my FI has never seen me up and about without them. While I could get away without glasses for the day, why should the details of my wedding be blurry? As for contacts, I can't wear them. I've tried and they just leave me wanting to scream. So...I will happily be a glasses wearing bride. I might even look into getting a new pair just for the wedding. Maybe something rimless (my FI just got a pair of rimless and they look fab on him!).
Brides wearing glasses- unite! ;)
my fi has a thing for me in my glasses, but i only need them if i'm on the computer a long time so it would probably be silly to have them on my wedding day. i think since you wear them every day, you should definetly wear them for your wedding. you still want to look like you.
I wear glasses too, but I just feel like they aren't dressy enough for the occasion. I'm wearing a princess dress, we're having a formal wedding, and I'm nervous that the glasses would look weird, so I'll be wearing contacts. I HATE contacts, though, because they really irritate my eyes. I'm hoping that if I keep using eye drops during the day, then my eyes won't turn bright red from irritation.
My husband complains that cute girls never wear their glasses when they dress up. I used to wear contacts all the time, and wore them at our wedding, but I've been having eye trouble so they're gone for good now.
And that second adorable bride with glasses someone posted? Our own lovely and four-eyed Mrs. Candy Corn. She wrote about brides in glasses here.
I wear glasses too, and I refuse to wear them at the wedding or reception. Luckily, I just need them for distance. So I think I'll be able to go without them, or I'll get contacts.
I say rock the glasses!
Picture number two...the girl looks adorable. Great look.
For what it's worth, I also tried contacts about 2 years ago. I tried for about 2 weeks to wear them. Tried 2 different kinds that were supposed to be sooo comfortable. I had no problem sticking my fingers in my eyes to pop them in or get them out, but my breaking point was when I had to pul over on the side of the road and pull them out because I felt like I had shards of glass in my eyes. It wasn' t uncomfortable, it was downright PAINFUL. I am so sad, I really wanted it to work!
my fi makes glasses and I know most stores sell pretty frames (his does). maybe you could get some wedding frames with basic lenses. that wouldn't be too expensive at costco or something, then they would be special!
Unless I get lasik done in the next year (which I probably won't do) I will wear glasses down the aisle.
I don't do contacts. I have really dry eyes.
I was not happy about it at first, but I wrote a post similar to yours a while back and everyone showed me photos of brides with specs and I feel a lot better about it. If that's how people are used to seeing you, why not wear them to your wedding?
Did we look like less of a bride and groom because of our glasses? Um, no. Rock 'em! 8)
Even though I wear glasses almost daily, I chose to do contacts for the wedding. But you'll look amazing in your glasses! You rock them!
I wear glasses. I wear them every day, and I do plan on rockin' them at my wedding in March. I would look silly without them, and I would feel uncomfortable (and honestly, kind of naked) without them.
I say do it!
My BF wears glasses, she decided she didn't want to wear them at her Wedding. She decided to get contact lenses but new that she would need some time to get used to them. So about a year b4 her wedding she got contact lenses, this gave her enough time to get used to the feel and learn how to put them in and take them out with ease. because she gave herself enough time she was a pro by the wedding It also meant that evveryone got used to her without glasses on so she didn't look like a different person on her big day. therefore she felt really comfortable in them, I see that u dont have a year but 4 months should be long enough if u get them now.
missed the bit about not being able to wear contacts disregard my earlier post :)
Definitely rock the glasses! I don't wear glasses or contacts but I have plenty of friends that do and they wore them at their weddings and looked absolutely beautiful in them. And they didn't look weird or strange in their pictures at all! I say definitely wear them, you'll look more like yourself and be just as beautiful as you would if you didn't have them on.
I wear glasses and I am totally going to wear them on my wedding day! I have contacts but I can't flipping see properly with them because my retina is football shaped so they rock on my eyes. I love the idea of them but in reality, they don't work for me
You could look for a different frame to wear on the day :) I have seven pairs of specs, all different, different styles colours etc. Like the other ladies I have contacts too, but there are a heck of a lot of pretty styles out there to look at if you felt uncomfortable wearing your black ones :)
Rock the glasses! Here is a great post at Offbeat Bride with lots of pictures of brides in glasses. FI and I will definitely both be wearing our glasses on the big day. Go for it!
I've struggled with the decision of whether to wear glasses to the wedding or not. I've worn glasses since I was like 3, wore contacts all through high school and college and then stopped wearing them and went back to glasses. Right now I'm leaning towards wearing contacts for the wedding, but if I can't get contacts again (the reason I stopped wearing them is that they started to make my eyes get really dry and itchy and I wasn't able to see very well with them anymore), then I'd definitely wear my glasses. Actually, even if I wear contacts, I'll probably change into glasses at some point during the reception so that my eyes don't get too tired.
I say, if you can't wear contacts, rock the glasses down the aisle! If you don't, you won't be able to see your fiance's face when he first sees you! Just make sure to tell your photographer that you'll have glasses on so that he knows to avoid/remove glare from the pictures :)
I'm like that dork that needs glasses and is SOOOOOO excited to get them, because I think they're awesome! I say rock them!
I have never been a fan on contacts. I remember at my senior prom I wore my glasses and every picture I took it looked as if my glasses were crooked...so I don't know, I am very torn about this decision. Both my FI and I wear glasses and it would be weird not to wear them. So we will see, I still have a whole year before our wedding.

I'm one of those nerdy kids with black rimmed glasses... and on any normal day, I love them. But with a wedding dress? (I can see pretty well without them, but I wouldn't be able to see far-away faces.)
I can't wear contacts but I want to see my future husband!
Anyone wear their glasses down the aisle? I'm afraid it will look odd in pictures...
