I have a Zojirushi and love it.  Many recipes on King Arthur Flour are tested using a Zoji.  Don’t tell my Kitchenaid but I actually prefer the Zoji for making bread.

Sorry but I don’t have any advice on gluten free baking.

Just doing a quick amazon search, it looks like there are a lot of different breadmakers with “gluten free” settings.  I would just make sure that the one you choose has this setting, and include a recipe book for gluten free breads in your gift.

i have the older bakery supreme model.  i don’t think it has a preset gluten free cycle but it’s programmable and according to amazon it says it works for GF: http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-BB-PAC20-Bakery-Virtuoso-Breadmaker/dp/B0067MQM48/ref=pd_sbs_k_1

it looks like the latest model has a pre-programmed gluten free cycle: http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-BB-PAC20-Bakery-Virtuoso-Breadmaker/dp/B0067MQM48/ref=pd_sbs_k_1

I’ve honestly had better results making gf bread the old-fashioned way in the oven.  But that might just be me 🙂
