I got an email from livingsocial with a deal for a glycolic peel. I have oily skin, moderate acne, and some acne scars. I'd LOVE to try something like this but 1) it's usually expensive and 2) I'm a little nervous, I don't have super sensitive skin but I don't want my face red and peeling epically for days. This place is in a doctor's office and it's only 50 dollars for one. Do you think I should try it? I figured I'd only buy the one peel deal, instead of 3, just in case it doesn't go well. They said they use Glytone 30%, if that helps!

    Hey-

$50 in a doctors office is a good deal. I have been doing a series of 6 glycolic peals, starting at 30% and going all the way up to 70%.  I do not have senstive skin and my skin only gets a bit red for a few hours and then gets back to normal within the day.  My acne does look worse for about 2-3 days after, but then it heals and my skin looks fantastic.  I am doing my 6th and final one tomorrow and my skin has never looked better.

From now until my wedding I am going to do them every 6 weeks, and then down to once a month before my wedding.  I think you are fine getting it.

I have had 3 peels done out of a series of 6 and I am liking the results so far. I started at 20% and am currently at 35%. My skin is pretty sensitive and very dry in the winter and I find I can do the peel and still go out and do stuff afterwards... and I only get slight flaking over the next couple of days.

I would definitely try it. At your first appointment they should do an analysis of your skin and adjust the treatment to what you need.
