One of the last things I still have left to do is to pick a hairstylist. There are two that I’m considering. One would be at a salon and the other is a stylist that will come to my venue. The salon is about 10-15 minutes away from my venue but is cheaper than the girl who will come to me. The salon’s bridal hair starts at $40, whereas the independent stylist charges $90. Is the price difference worth not having to go to a salon?
What would you or did you do for your wedding day? Would you do the same thing again?

@CarolinaCola: I’m having my hairstylist and makeup artist come to me. Knowing me, I’d be freaking out enough as it is without having to go anywhere on the morning of our wedding!
Yeah, I’m paying a little more too, but I think it just gives me peace of mind that I don’t have to leave my room until it’s time – no going back and forth or forgetting things in between places. There’s also the comfort factor – I’ll be paying for my bridesmaids as well, and I think I’d much prefer being able to chill on the couch with a champagne while I wait for everyone else, rather than unnecessarily taking up space in the salon.
It’s really up to you; I think it would work either way.

I had hair and makeup come to me to avoid weather and traffic. Having all my bridesmaids in the room, hanging out, eating breakfast and getting pretty is one of my favorite memories from that day!

@CarolinaCola: have them come to you! Getting ready in the bridal sweet with all of the girls with me was amazing! And there was no stress. Hair and makeup stared at 9 so everyone was already at the venue so it was nice!

I’m having her come to me. Then I’m in the comfort of my own home, and we can be accomplishing other things while hair is being done.

@Pinkmoon: Aw, you’re getting married on Valentine’s Day. That’s so sweet 🙂

I’m having my hair and MUA come to me. It’ll be so much easier than having to run around.

@CarolinaCola: Our venue was slightly out of the way so we had the hair stylist and MUA come to the venue and it was worth every penny. We got ready together in one big room and it was incredibly relaxed, no rushing to a salon and back again. I went from the big room, to a small room to put my dress on and then out the door to get married. Piece of cake.

CarolinaCola: who did you use for hair and makeup in Charleston? I live in Mt. Pleasanr and I’m having the hardest time finding someone reasonably priced. We are getting married in the beach and having a short 15 minute ceremony, so I’m not looking to spend $200+ like they are wanting to charge.

Lisams305: I did my own makeup, but I had Kendall from Salon 424 (on Folly Rd.) come to the venue and she did my hair, my MOH’s and my mom’s. Her prices for actually doing the hair are very reasonable (I think it was about $50 for doing my hair half up and curly), but the travel fee is $100. You could go to the salon if you wanted, but it’s a pretty small salon, especially if you’re going to have lots of people getting their hair done that day. Also, she told me that she used to do hair for a lot of beach weddings so she is experienced with it if you’re interested!
