I fixed it! Just in case anyone else runs into the problem....I was using photocopies I made with the fancy copier at school. When I tried copies made from the cheapo grocery store copier, the problem went away. I guess you don't always get what you pay for!

My prints are super splotchy -- as in, in areas where there is supposed to be a solid block of color, there is a stippling of white paper showing through. I printed my design (I'm not sure if that was a laser or inkjet printer) and photocopied it, and I made sure to use the blue filter. The only two possibilites I can think of:
1. I'm putting the blue filter in the wrong place. From top to bottom when making a master, you should have the gocco plastic screen, blue filter, then your master, right? So that the master will be against the original, not the blue filter against the original.
2. The photocopy could be too dark. The handbook said "low print density." I couldn't figure out what that meant, so I just left the settings on the photocopier at the default.
Can someone explain how to make a "low print density" photocopy? Any other ideas what could be going wrong? Thanks!
