Great post! Over the last year my fiance and I have both been through a lot of things with family, friends, our jobs, the wedding, etc. I have often chanted this to myself. I’ve learned that you figure out who your true family and friends are (and fast), you can’t change people or situations so you just have to take it as is and move forward, and you always need to take care of yourself first because most of the time no one else is going to.

So true. I hope that one day I can actually accept the things that I cannot change.

On frustrating days, my friends and I have a funny version of this:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things that I can
And the wisdom to hide bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off.

Note: Of course, this is all a joke. No intentions of following through.

I’m still working on accepting what I cannot change… I’m terrible at it, but working on it. I guess that’s all a person can do.

“God, grant me the serenityTo accept the things I cannot change; The courage to change the things that I can;And the wisdom to know the difference.”

This prayer suits everything about the wedding planning.. Thanks!
