You need about 3 weeks of hair growth for a wax. im not going to lie it hurts the first few times….alot but after getting it done for over three years now its like a walk in the park. $50 seems like a reasonable price for a salon. I go to a ladies house to get it done so its cheaper

I think only one week unshaved might not be enough. I’d call the salon, once you find one and check with them.

$50 is pretty good! Did you get a Groupon coupon? YELP might be a good way to get recommendations.

Make sure you take an ibuprofen about an hour before you go, that’s all I can suggest.

Have an excellent time, by the way. You will LOVE your brazilian (after about 3 hours, lol). It makes bathing suits soooo much easier.

If it’s too short it will be hard for then to get all the hair. Better you give it extra time to grow, they will cut it down to proper size before starting with the waxing.

first time will hurt like hell!!!

dont do it the day before you departure for your holiday, it can be very sensitive the first one or two days and to avoid inflammation you should stay away from sun and “dirty” places the first 24 hours.

bring something with you to occupie yourself with, I find it hard to do some “Chitchat” while being exposed like that so I usually bring a magazine or something to concentrate on instead.

I would be a little wary of having my first wax before a big trip like this.  Have you ever been waxed before?  Some people have some pretty severe reactions like being swollen and red for days.

Yes, Like others have said, don’t shave until the waxing! I hardly shave at all to begin with, and never have any issues with it being too long. Its kinda uncomfortable at first but I didn’t feel like I needed any ibuprofin. After the first few pulls, it doesnt bother me much any more. Also, not much discomfort later in the day, we just didn’t have, you know, “all out” sex.

I pay about 65 every 4 weeks for mine. As for cleanliness, I would say always disposing of wax sticks, clean sheet, or paper on the table wear you will be laying and of course that they are wearing gloves.

Thats about it, that I know of. Hope it helps.

I let mine grow out for a month with no trimming/matinence (so it was all the same length).

I took 4 Ibruprophen an hour before in my appointment, it didn’t hurt, and I had no swelling and almost no redness!

I think I paid $55, and I tipped like $15-20 because my lady was SO amazing!

You should let your hair grow about 1/4-1/2 inch before getting waxed. Take 2 Advil or Ibuprofen before hand, although it’s probably not going to help that much.

You’re definitely going to be sore after, and probably won’t be able to be intimate for 1-2 days (DEFINITELY not the day/night of). Be prepared for the skin in that area to be really read and swollen – whenever I get waxed I also end up with some bruising sometimes. It’s going to look awful, but don’t worry because it’ll all fade within a few days.

DO NOT exercise after you get it done. The sweat will clog the exposed pores and you’ll end up with white heads all over.

$50 is a very reasonable price. When it comes to hygiene, look for a waxer that wears gloves (seems obvious but you’d be surprised) and uses fresh wax/paper between clienst. I recommend finding a salon that uses hard wax (usually green and goopy, goes directly on skin and doesn’t need strips) instead of the standard wax/strips because it hurts less.

Hope that helps!

@pinkrose23:  Just commenting to agree with the PPs; leave about 3 weeks of growing before the appt, be ready for a lot of reddness and touch sensitivity right after (and probably for the first day or so). It’ll hurt like hell the first time. I pay $50 for mine in a salon, and I’ve been going to the same girl for over a year now so we’ve gotten pretty comfortable chit chatting. It makes it a lot easier. It still hurts, but it is SOOOO worth it not to have to worry about shaving every few days!!
