I was just hoping to get some experiences from other Bees who have taken a college diploma and continued on into University. I am currently at the end of my 3 year diploma program at my local college and it just hit me that I won’t be able to find a good job without a University education as well. University was the original plan out of high school but the last couple of years included me meeting FI and I didn’t want a long distance relationship, so I settled for a similar college level program.
As my program has come to an end my marks have decreased, partially because of the stressors of life getting in the way but also because I am just getting lazy as I’ve never gone more than 2 weeks without working or going to school full time since the summer break in grade 9! I am currently trying to scrambleto find a full time job for after my internship is up next month but it looks bad.
At school I came across a course booklet for a university out of province. They offer online classes to upgrade my current diploma (they have an agreement with the school to accept our schools graduates for at least 50% of a university degree credits) within the next couple of years. I am currently looking at getting a Bachelor of Commerce to open my job prospects.
I am of course terrified because for the past 3 years I have been working at a college level and even struggling with it on occasion. After high school I wouldn’t be as worried because I was in University prep classes but now I fear that I won’t make the cut when it comes to marks. I am also worried about the stress of being in post secondary education for an additional couple of years as our timeline was to start a family in the near future…
So I am just looking for other Bee’s experience with doing this, your challenges and fears, what went wrong and what went right.
