Its very common where I'm from to have a "display shower" where the gifts are displayed very nicely on a table (with linens and other decorations) and then little cards are attached to each gift indicating who they are from. The guests bring the gifts unwrapped and the bridal party is responsible for organizing the display by taking the gifts out of the boxes so you can actually see the china, flatware, etc. Its great because you get to spend more time with your guests, its "green" because there is no wrapping paper, and people actually get to see the gifts on display rather than for a nanosecond when the bride holds it up while opening her presents. Display showers are the way to go!!!
Seriously? I had never heard of this before and thought it was a great idea! I agree with you RIbride - display showers are the way to go!

I received an invitation for my friend's shower yesterday and really got inspired by an idea she had. In the invitation had another blank card with a ribbon attached - and on a little side piece of cute paper it said "C. would like to have a 'green' shower. Instead of wrapping your gift, please write a note and attach this card." (Or something similar to that...but you get the idea!) I thought this was a great idea!
She is a somewhat shy girl, so I think she is really excited to have it that way so she doesn't have to be up in front of so many people for so long, unwrapping gifts.
And I like how it saves the gift givers money - wrapping a gift and having it look good can get expensive! :-)
Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
