I just picked something that buttons in the back so I don't have to worry about putting it over her head. I heard it's scary when they're that tiny, you feel like you'er going to break them.
I imagine it will probably be something Christmas-y since I'm due on December 15th. So I'll probably start looking when the stores start putting out their holiday merchandise.
@artbee: Is it like a onesie or a full outfit?
@lcdc:OOOh..you have to make sure to get a My First Christmas something too! :)
I'm due in 6 weeks and haven't thought about this yet. With my first daughter, she had to wear preemie clothes for the first week or two eventough she was 7lbs 2oz, so she swam in the "newborn" outfit I brought her home in.
We brought DS home in a footie pajama. I just wanted to get out of the hospital so I could sleep. We left a day early and I just picked something easy to get on an off, but that was also warm. It was cute, but nothing to fancy. We drove the 10 minutes home (DH and I plus my parents) and then he was changed again within the hour anyway.
My mom still has the sweater she was brought home in, and the one I was brought home in, so hopefully one of those.
@eeniebeans: and @mrstilly: So, I guess that's one of those things that you figure would be a big deal, but turns out not to be, huh?
Addie wore a little yellow onesie with matching socks, hat and mittens. I should've just brought a snap up sleep n' play outfit so I didn't have to worry about all the separate pieces. It took like 20 minutes to dress her before we left the hospital because I was so afraid of putting anything over her head! Here's a picture:

@PrncssDva: I think it just depends on the person for how important it is. I think some people are very sentimental and will save their outfits like smileyd, and a lot of people want the super cute picture in the car ride home.
For me, I just want her to be comfortable, and I'm sure she'll look super cute in any outfit I put her in.
@lcdc: due date twins!! :D
I'll find out the 19th boy/girl, so I'll start shopping then ;)
@artbee: Most definitely..she will be adorable!! I am more of that sentimental person.
I have no idea what we brought DS home in- it was 8 PM on a Friday, raining, and we were exhausted and just wanted to get home!
We have no pictures of the "going home" process, and to be honest, I don't care. There are other photos of him in the hospital (where mainly he's wrapped up in the hospital swaddle blanket) and at home (where again, mainly what you see is the blanket he's wrapped in).
I found a pink onesie that says "The Princess Has Arrived" with a picture of a crown on it. DH and I agreed it was perfect for her coming home outfit!
I put Keyan in a baby blue velvet 2p outfit and matching hat with a little onesie underneath that said "I'm new" hehe! It was December so we put a full snowsuit that looked like a fuzzy bear on him too... he was tooooo cute!

(I have pics but not digital ones- he was born almost 7 years ago before everyone had a digital camera and social networking) wish I had a few pics online though =(
@newbiecici: and @HappilyEverAfter54: AWW those are the perfect outfits :)
i'm due in 6 weeks and am planning to have his hospital pic and take him home in a little onsie someone gave us - it's just navy blue and white stripes with a little froggy on the front :) nothing totally out of the ordinary, i just think it's so cute. we have hats and little mittens that will go okay with it too.
It depends on the season, but I would just pick something super comfy like a onesie. I would wait for them to be a few weeks older before I start put lots of thought into their outfit.. but I'm not pregnant yet so I might change my opinions on the matter
We just took a onesie and pants. Most of the little cutesy outfits were too big for him (and he was average size). I didn't take socks because they would have just fallen off and it was the middle of June so he didn't need them.

I was reading another thread and it made me think about this topic. I am not pregnant, but it just is kind of interesting to me. I have been to plenty of baby showers and the moms sometimes announce that one of the clothing outfits will be what baby wears home.
WHat outfit did you have as your "Going Home" outfit? Or, if you're not pregnant yet or have not delivered yet, what do you think it'd look like? Post pics, if you have them.
