My fiancé (eee!) surprised me with a trip to Austin. I grew up there and it is very special to me so I was excited.
we checked into the Driskill hotel, it was built in the 1880’s and is BEAUTIFUL, full of ornate wood details, marble, and Tiffany glass. We got to our room, and turns out he had gotten us a suite, and the only one that had a balcony overlooking 6th street. We got ready for dinner, he told me reservations were at 5:30, and we HAD to be on time… So I thought he was proposing at dinner. We went downstairs at 5:20 and went to the bar to have a drink. He told me he needed to talk to the concierge and disappeared for a few minutes. He came back and said he had pushed back our reservations so we could have a few drinks and relax. But then he got our check and started back to the room, while Im followed going “but I’m hungry!!, where are we going? Why didn’t we just stay at the bar??? “Silly girl…
He tells me he has to grab something from the room so we head back up, he opens the door and I see rose petals leading out to the balcony with champagne (where the concierge was hiding and scared the crap out of me so I screamed) I turn around and he takes my hands and gets down on one knee and said “misstexasfire, I absolutely love you, and you make me a better person, will you marry me??”
I said yes OF COURSE! So we celebrated with champagne and he tells me that dinner was actually at 8:30 and he had another surprise for me, so we head downstairs again where a horse drawn carriage was waiting. We rode around Austin and over the lake before heading back for dinner and drinks!
and now pictures!!
