I guess I have a "etiquette" question.  As you all know, my BF has been talking extensively (though vaguely) about our future, getting married, how we both should save money, etc.  Yesterday we passed a local jeweler and my eyes wandered for a moment, he laughed and told me not to look in there.

Well, he and I are going to a jeweler this weekend to get some earrings fixed he bought me a few months ago.  I really would like to look at engagement rings, because frankly, I always do when I go out to these stores... but is that in poor taste?

I actually want to get my ring finger sized anyhow because I think I'm between sizes now, so that may be an excuse since I have a ring I want to get altered... thoughts?  Did anyone else "break the ice", or is it a faux pas?

I think you should look at rings, too. I don't see what the problem would be in looking since you are already going to be there.

This is the perfect opportunity since you have a legit excuse to go there with him already!  Work it!!!

Girls - we can't have it both ways. Sometimes guys need a hand are you too proud to get on one knee? :-) I heard somewhere that we're all equals...

You know, I would look, if it's what you do.  A simple "oh I always like to look" would help to offset the "oh god she's going to look", I guess.  And if you need to get your finger sized, it happens.

BF always likes to ask if I want to go into the shiny shop when I get distracted walking by, but I always turn him down.  I need to get my ring finger measured (for future reference), but I don't like to go into shiny shops by myself...

Maybe I'll take him up on that offer next time...

@mmmtacos: it sounds like he wants you to look at rings as well!! i would definitely take an opportunity if i was presented with it and say oh wow babe, look at that it's gorgeous, wow it's sooo pretty, is it crazy if i try it on? and if he says no, then urrr in the words of lolaj absofriggin lutely!!!

@jess_08: most of our guys are traditionalists, believe me i'd definitely want to ask m, but he says he wants to do this and it's one of the only things he can do to surprise me and he wants to do it all on his own.
