I'm going to try dresses on for the first time tonight (well I tried one on before). I'm not really sure what to expect. I'm going to David's Bridal. I'm going to wear a strapless bra, and a shaper.

    Any words of wisdom?

I agree have fun.  Also, try on dresses that you aren't sure about because it's hard to tell how things will look on your body.

Have fun and try on many styles!  Oh and don't just stop at the first one, even if you think you are in love with it, you can always go back to it! :)

    IT was fun :)

I tried on probably ten different dresses. The one I thought I'd love- I did like but everyone said it wasn't formal enough.  The second dress was the best- until the very last.  The last one was a dress I didn't think I'd like on because of one detail and I LOVED it!  I have one more dress appointment in two weeks at another salon, just to make sure.

Now I have to wait two weeks, which is going to be hard!

@Ms.Teddy- I definitely loved more than one and was having a hard time-until I tried the last dress on.  I'm just not ready to commit yet. Want to make sure there isn't something I like at a bridal salon. I went to Davids Bridal tonight becuase I know it'll be in the budget. But I don't wanna sell myself short. After store two we aren't going anywhere else though.

Try on things you didn't even look at in books or online. Try things you think you will hate...'cause you might not!

@Amaryllis- I loved the Oleg Cassini CWG322 from Davids Bridal. I didn't think I'd like the silver beading, but I did.

As long as you all promise not to say anything bad I'll upload a picture :)

I need to learn what to do with my hands while I have it on- and not to make stupid faces haha.  I'm glad I'll have a bouquet or my FI's hands during the wedding. I felt strange like I wasn't sure where to put them

Did David's Bridal give you a strapless bra for trying on dresses? That was the case for me, so I assumed it was the norm for all bridal salons. Wrong! All others expected me to have my own strapless bra, so make sure you BYOB (bring your own bra).

Some women wear Spanx (or similar) for dress shopping. You can if you want, but at least make sure to wear subdued undies (no loud patterns that might show through) and keep 'em modest, as salespeople are likely to see you parading around in them. I found it helpful to tie back my hair because, for some reason, those dresses generate tons of static and your hair will be sticking up all over!

It sounds (and looks!) like you had a successful first shoping trip. Happy hunting! Keep us posted.

There's nothing we could say bad about it! The dress is so pretty, and it's very flattering on you! You look great!

@jadeblue- David's Bridal did look for a bra for me- however I wear a 32DDD and the smallest she could find was a 36.  Luckily I had my own on, so that was nice. I didn't want to wear their's anyways. I was going to wear a spanx like shaper, but I realized when I put it on with my strapless bra that they ended about one inch from each other and pushed fat out in a little line- it was funny looking. (I've only ever wore my shaper with a different bra that I didn't have that problem with). Luckily I didn't really need the shaper for any of the dress types I tried on.  I for some reason could not find my nude boyshort underwear and ended up wearing pink and whtie striped one, but it wasn't an issue and my consultant didn't seem to care- she was AMAZING.

@Amaryllis- Thank you!!  I am going to a different David's Bridal tomorrow night to try it on the size bigger as my consultant that it'd be perfect since the one I tried one almost fit but I could not zip. I'm hoping the size up one will be perfect.
