@brunetteinlove: Call ahead and make sure they have your dream dress (if its within budget). I went to a store that had the right designer and not the right dress and it bothered me the whole appointment that I could not try on the dress I wanted.
Take as many pictures as you can. I had picked out a dress that looked amazing in the magic wedding shop mirrors, but once I got home and looked at the pictures, I realized I looked like a giant square block. I was horribly sad about that dress, but thrilled I had the opportunity to know before I made the purchase.
So happy for you! Just try as many as you can and do take pictures if possible. If by any chance you are in a dress dilemma, we are all here helping you make your decision! LOL
Don't limit yourself to one dress! I went in my first time with a 'dream dress' in my head and just couldn't fall in love with anything else. I finally tried on that dress at my next appt. and it didnt' flatter me at all - so I went back to square one, tried everything on again, and ended up realizing that THE one was a dress I had already tried on and dismissed at the first appt.
Also, make sure that they complete each dress that you like with a veil. I was having a hard time saying 'yes' to my dress until I put my hair up and they slapped a veil and sash on me.
@asscherlover: the only place that has ny dream dress is Kleinfeld (it's a pnina tornai a girl candream right! lol) I am going to try on gowns that look similar. I mean who knows, it might be beautiful on the model, but not right for me.
@tksjewelry: I plan on it! :) I'll look at the pictures later and see if I still feel the same about the dress as I did in the store.
@Anastasia Lelikova: You read my mind! I will be back & posting pictures to get the amazing bee's opinions!
@cejo13: I am a little afraid the style dress I like, ok, LOVE will not look good on me. Well I don't know where you tried on dresses but I hope they don't "slap" a veil & sash on me! haha jk :)
@brunetteinlove: I was in a different position because mine was in budget. I ended up going home and ordering it used without trying it on. lol I would not reccomend that route (buying without trying, buying used was a good option for me). And it worked out for me, but it would not have worked if I had not tried on similar styles.
I had about 13 dresses I liked, and made a day of it. I did have a big posse (my mom, my dad, my FI's mom, and 2 bridesmaids) and we made 5 appointments in one day. I picked the places based on the designers they carried, but I didn't ask tp make sure they had the specific dresses I had printed out.
I liked one at the first place a lot, but wanted to keep going becuase it was my first appointment ever. Then at the 2nd place, I liked one more. Then I had 2 misses. And then, at my last store, the last dress, it was "it!" totally cliche, everyone crying, EVERYONE agreed, and that was that.
I will say, even though what I brought in were a few different styles...all the dresses I would have been happy getting married in- were dresses I had printed out pictures of.
As far as tips- maybe TMI- but I'm a sweaty girl. I brought deoderant and a towel to absorb sweat, a brush so I still felt good after pulling on my clothes, and my shoes! Because I already had bought those :)
UPDATE!
Hi ladies I have an update for you! The first time I went to tryon wedding dresses I tried on about 5 or 6 beautiful gowns. There were 2 I liked (one more than the other). I decided to make another appointment because I did not find "the dress". On my second appointment (a week later) I tried on the same two dresses I liked the first time. I eliminated one mostly because my mom liked it more than me & I didn't want to hurt her feelings. The second one i tried on, I still liked but was out of our price range (I will be doing a TTD photoshoot & can't imagine spending thousands of dollars on a dress I'm going to trash!). I tried on what had to be 8-10 sale dresses and finally found another one I liked!! When I tried it on at first I wasn't sure , but the more I looked at the dress & how it fit me PERFECTLY (I'm not kidding, even the dress consultant said I didn't need any alterations!). I tried on 4 inch heels and the rest is history. I had the veil & hair piece on, my mom was crying & I was misty eyed! I did not want to take the dress off! I was in it for probably 30 minutes just walking around, and checking myself out! lol. The best part is the dress was on sale for $349. The consultant (who was AMAZING by the way!) said it would be $50 off and the veil would be 10% off. She took the dress, veil & hair accessory I got up to the register to ring it up, and when my mom & I got up there she told us the price on the dress was not right; it was actually $150! All in all I got all 3 of the items for under $350, the origional price of the sale dress!!! I am dissapointed that my consultant did not get mre commision because she was so helpful, didn't pressure us on a more expensive dress and most importantly she was genuinely nice! I will post photos later. :)

I am so excited/nervous/scared to try on wedding dresses for the first time tomorrow! I think I know the stlye I want, but who knows! My goal is to try on as many different gowns till I find the style I like, then make a secind appointment to narrow it down from there! I am going to Davids Bridal with my mom. I am so close to my FI I kinda wish he could come too, but i have to leave a few things to the imagination since we are planning the wedding together. Plus I may have showed him my dream dress...so he has some idea.
Do any of you ladies have any advice, tips or things you wish you did/didn't do on your first appointment?
