@MrsPanda99:  depending on the course there may be a dress code, where you must wear slacks and a collered shirt. I would check with the course and then see what you can do

Collared shirt, preferably a polo, and shorts (not booty shorts, to just above the knee) or capri pants.  Go to Walmart and pick something up if you have to; their Dry Wick line of sports clothing looks good but is very reasonably priced.  Make sure to wear a hat, sunglasses, and lots of 30+ SPF sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection.

@MrsPanda99:  Definitely check the course dress code before shopping like PP suggested.  If you aren’t dressed appropriately and it’s a private course, they might refuse to allow you on the course.  Ultimate embarassment!

Before I had proper golf clothing, I would wear a polo and somewhat casual dress slacks.  It really depends on how fancy the course is though.

@MrsPanda99:  This might be obvious (lol) but wear sneakers. Definitely no t-shirt but check the place you’re going to for a dress code as some places are more strict than others. To play it safe, I would wear a polo shirt and a modest skort or above-the-knee shorts (like the Dickies material, do you know what I’m talking about?)

@MrsPanda99:  When I go with my BF, I just wear a polo and khaki shorts :-p There are so many cute womens golf lines out there but they only go down to a 4 typically, which doesnt fit me :-p

@MrsPanda99:  try target or walmart for a collared polo style shirt.

@MrsPanda99:  I agree with PP, call the course to check on the dress code.  I’ve never been to a golf course (private, semi-private, or public) that has allowed a t-shirt or jeans.  I know they exist though so do call first.

If it’s cold, you can get away with wearing a rain jacket/windbreaker and then they would never know you’re not wearing a collared shirt, although my husband was forced to purchase a non-hooded jacket at a golf course in Ireland because they didn’t allow hoods…he was mad because it was raining. lol.

Pants – just about anything goes…You can wear a skort, shorts (not too short, just above the knee or longer) khakis, and again if it’s raining, rain pants are acceptable.

Hat for sure, bug spray, sunscreen.

Trust me, before I met my husband I DESPISED golf, but after “being forced” to go and visit/golf at some of the best courses in the world, I absolutely adore the game.  But I usually lose interest after 9 holes.

Nobody cares if “you suck” but do make sure that you keep up with the group in front of you.  People only get annoyed or upset if you’re super slow and holding everything up.  If you have to, pick up your ball and drop it closer to or on the green to pick up the pace.  Everyone will appreciate it 🙂  But most of all have fuN!

you can call the golf course to ask about their dress code.  even if it’s casual, i would still wear a collared shirt (polo style) and long shorts or golf skort.  this way you will be respectful to other players on the course.

walmart and target are perfect for having inexpensive apparel like this.
