I just read a review on 30 day shred and it sounds awesome if you want to lose a ton of weight in a short amount of time, but if you are only wanting to tone up, not quite sure about it.  Right now, I’m doing Slim in 6.  It’s awesome for toning and they have a specific DVD segment just for abs.  You should look into that.  It might be geared a little bit more towards your goals!  Good luck! 🙂

Hey Joyous Bride

Oh the problem areas!!!!!

You can’t lose fat in any target area so if you are happy with everywhere else except your stomach I would try and come to terms with it – it is just the way you are built! If you really can’t deal with it – the only way to lose it is to do cardio and lose fat…. but you will lose it everywhere!

As far as toning goes it will help you – no matter what toning the muscle under the aggrevating layer of fat does help to make you look and feel better!

In order to do I high intensity workout and not lose weight you have to increase your caloric intake to match your caloric expenditure!

I hope this information helps you to get where you want to get!!!

Good Luck!

Yeah, where your body loses weight that’s how it goes. My stomach just dosn’t go either. For your butt, you could try to incorporate some muscle building with squats, lunges, etc. Only thing I found to help in my stomach area is lower my carb intake, but I couldn’t stick with it, nor a real exercise program. Can’t tell you about the 30 day shred program.

I agree, you’re butt is a very large muscle and can easily be buffed up. And don’t worry, muscles are still soft when they aren’t flexed, so you won’t have a cement butt. Sprints are good for the rear AND abs, since you’re running so fast that your abs really have no choice but to be tight. Also, stair climbing is great and step ups (onto a chair or bench) build the butt well. I naturally have my own personal JLo, but when I really get into exercise, my small chest and butt decrease too~ Try dance exercises like Zumba, really ab/core orientated without being to strenuous. And you get a great dancer’s body!! I recommend Diet.com for fitness videos.

What I hear is that there are certain places that you are likely to gain/lose weight first, just as a matter of how your body is built. You probably have a build like mine, where your stomach is first to hold onto weight and last to lose it! It’s possible that you’re already at the point where you’ll lose weight off your stomach more than elsewhere, but chances are you will lose weight everywhere.

I did the 30 DS and liked it.  I honestly think it’ll be a good thing for what you want. The large amounts of weight loss most are talking about are the people who are doing this as a part of a major change in life and have a lot of weight to lose.  I lost  several pounds of fat, but gained muscle. For me, it was a great way to trim down a bit and toneup overall. I’d recommend it.

I’m doing the 30 day shred for exactly what you are doing it for – toning up!  I don’t necessarily want to lose weight, just look fit and toned for my wedding.  It mostly involves squats, lunges, abs, and toning of the arms…I think you’ll be fine!
