I found the most flattering dresses on me had either an empire waist or side ruching across the waist.  Definately must also have an a-line skirt.

This is my gown (Private Label by G):

Any dress can be a good dress for a plus-size bride. The idea that we can only wear “certain” types of dresses is a myth. Choose the best dress for your shape, no matter how large or small that shape is (a pear is a pear, whether it’s a thin pear or a large pear).

What kind of dress do you truly want to wear?

Private Label by G has some beautiful gowns in there. It doesn’t have to be your traditional style of plus size gown either, I am sure there are a lot of places that would accommodate to meet your needs. I think the ones from bonny are pretty too. 🙂

Oh and I meant to say — Maggie Sottero’s “real brides” section of her site has lots of brides of different sizes (plus size included), wearing several different styles.

@Tswife4ever:not sure if you are interested in preowned, but my dress made me feel so pretty with the waist line (although I’m not sure what the name for it is).  I will add some pics.  if you would like more, let me know.  good luck!

Why don’t you tell us a little more about your figure type?  If you go to http://www.myshape.com then you can get some helpful advice to based the silhouette and neckline of the dress.

If you just want general advice, then go with something that doesn’t have a ton of over done detailing.  Go for ruching, but in an asymetrical line only, nothing horizontal.  The waist and neckline can be decided based on your height and bust/bust to waist proportions.

Hope this helps.

@Ms Mini: Okay I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if you’re willing to sell your dress… I have been looking for Vienna everywhere in my size and haven’t had any luck. It looks like we’re the same size, and I’m IN LOVE with your dress. (You look gorgeoud in it btw!) 🙂
