Heart of Water Jewels.  Fantastic service and beautiful jewelry that’s well made and customizable.  I got my engagement ring there and I have a wedding band being made now. Each piece is made entirely by hand. The designer can incorporate any kind of gemstone or design you have in mind.

I’m using McFarland Designs for my wedding band.  Not sure what your tastes are, but she has more modern designs, custom orders, all recycled metals and fair trade stones.  Her service has been excellent (and quick).

I had a great experience with BeyondtheRockz Designs. I didn’t get an engagement ring there but they have some for sale. My mom and I had an old gold and diamond ring from her great great great aunt melted down and made into two rings, one for each of us (they use a photo of them in their listing here, mine is the shiny one on top, my mom’s is the hammered one below). They use fairly traded stones and recycled metals and are great to work with for custom designs.

I second Heart of Water.  My boyfriend just bought me one of her moonstone lotus rings (lush lotus, to be exact) and it is the most beautiful setting I have ever seen.  Sally, the designer, is such a nice lady and is so accommodating.  While it is not the least expensive ring I own, I know that it is worth every penny for the craftsmanship, design qualities and care that she put into this ring.  HIGHLY recommend 🙂

I recommend mastergoldcraft if you’re looking for custom. We haven’t actually gotten the ring yet, but we ordered it and asked for customizations like a matching wedding band and having it cast in platinum instead of gold, and Stephen was VERY accommodating and willing to do whatever we wanted. The prices are a lot cheaper than you’d find at a brick and mortar jewelry store, too.

The same people who run mastergoldcraft (which has some silver) also have a store that sells gemstone jewelry in ONLY sterling silver: bestsilver

Hope this helps you!

@ OctTree2010: I really love McFarland designs because he uses moissanite! I can’t wait to see your ring from there.

PATRICK IRLA

Search in sellers for PATRICKIRLA one word.

I swoon over his stuff non stop, and he’ll do anything you want custom for a reasonable price.  I’m thinking about sending my Grandmother’s old rings to him to have made into e-bands for my Bridesmaids.
