i was married at the 4s in great exuma in june 2007! we worked with driftwood designs, and they were recommended by the 4s. our flowers and centerpieces were gorgeous, and i was really happy with them. i did not talk with anyone else. let me know if there is anything i can do to help you. the 4s were awesome to work with and we had a wonderful wedding weekend. good luck!
Beachy Blue and Tobysmomma - If you don't mind sharing, could you let me know how much you were quoted/paid for centerpieces, chuppahs (if you had one), draping, etc.?
I'm getting married in the Bahamas, too, and thought that the florist's quote seemed really high. I just want to make sure that my florist is in the general "Bahamian ballpark" as far as costs. Thanks so much!
I'm getting married in the Bahamas May 10th on Paradise Island. I found that all the costs were very high. I was quoted $850 for an arch decorated with fabric(no flowers), but bringing my own fabric saved me $300.
The floral costs were going to be crazy so I ordered silk bouquets and bouts etc from Something Spectacular Floral Design. She's an amazing floral designer and even my photographer couldn't tell that they weren't real. We're getting married on the beach and I figured that I didn't need a lot of flowers since the natural surroundings are already so beautiful.
We had an engagemnt session with a local photographer there last year, but I'm flying in my photographers because I love their work and it actually ended up being cheaper to fly them in then to hire inferior local photographers. The photographer there was going to cost $3000 for 5 hours with 100 prints and ownership of the negatives.
My photographers are waiving their fee in exchange for a week in the Bahamas which is costing me about $2000 for the 2 of them, and they're taking pictures at our at-home reception too!
i thought they were pretty pricey, but i think it will depend on the flowers you use. we had tall orchid centerpieces in candalabras for the reception and a pergola ($1500) with various quotes for my bouquet, BM bouquets, bouts, aisle chair flowers, etc. the following are the exact quotes. in fairness, they did a fabulous job, and i would be happy to share our slideshow with you to see their work.

Ambiance Candles - $12 each

let me know if you have any other questions!
im sorry the quotes came out so weird...let me try again, i guess cutting and pasting doesn't work =)

I live in Miami and work at a modeling agency I'm fairly up with who's who in photography here.
I can recommend 2 fantastic photographers (who do weddings- not just fashion)
www.heatherfunk.com - cant say enough about her photos- playful, gorgeous, modern. She has a real sense of style and comes from a fashion background.
and
http://www.tonygajate.com/ - gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.
Good Luck!
knudsonwedding - Are you using Floral Arts?
knudsonwedding and tobysmomma - Thank you for sharing your costs/quotes. Tobysmomma - Was your chuppah $1500 or $500?
I was quoted $2000 for a chuppah with flowers at the four posts and along the front of the chuppah. Eeek!
i know, i almost had a heart attack with those quotes. it ended up being $1500 from what i remember, but i ended up not using chiffon drapes which would have put all of it closer to $2000. they can use another material which worked out fine for us.
oh, i also flew in a photographer and it was the best decision i made. at the end of the day, all you really have are your photos =)
I'm bringing in all our flowers from Something Spectacular floral design (silk flowers)

This is my bouquet and my bridesmaids. I also got bouts, corsages and centerpiece flowers. We're bringing it all down with us, and saving a fortune.
This is the chuppah picture I sent to our wedding planner (I'm not sure where I got it from, so I apologize to whoever it belongs to) and got a quote of $850 without the leaves, flowers or capiz shell strands. I bought fabric at Walmart for $1/yard (28 yards) and they are now charging me $550 to set it up with the fabric that I bring.

Hi,
I would love some help finding a fantastic florist (decor) and Photographer in Miami or in the Bahamas area. I'm getting married Oct 18th, 2008 at the Four Seasons, on Great Exuma at Emerald Bay, Bahamas. I'm meeting with their preferred vendors but would also love to meet with a few others. I actually don't even know if I can use a Miami florist for a Bahamas wedding. WOW, can you tell I'm a beginner at this.
Help,
Beachy Blue
