Where is a good honeymoon spot for mid-September? I really don’t know a lot about traveling outside the US. I would like to go somewhere somewhat tropical, but am worried about bad weather. We can go international, our airline miles are taken care of but we wont have a lot of money so that’s a consideration too. I would love Ireland or Australia but have no idea what they would cost.
Where are you going for your fall honeymoon? Where are you staying and what’s your budget?

I’m not taking a honeymoon in the fall and I haven’t actually been to Ireland but we did research it a bit when thinking about where we wanted to go. We discovered a lot of small bed and breakfasts that were much cheaper than the larger hotels and were just as nice with beautiful views! I hope that helps a little. I think with airfare in May we were going to make Ireland work for $3500 to $4000.

The A-B-C islands or Barbados are what we were thinking. It’s technically still time for hurricane seasion (I was in a Cat 5 in the middle of September! Ack!), but those islands aren’t affected as much.
My FI and I went to New Zealand and Australia for 3 weeks last year. It was an EPIC vacation. We went in March/April -right at the end of their summer. September is the first month of their Spring. Northern Australia will still have some decent beach weather in Spring, but the south will likely be below 70 degrees if that’s an issue! Of the two countries….I LOVED NEW ZEALAND! It was pricey to fly there…. our flight to NZ from Cincinnati was about $1200. Once you get there though, it’s still pretty cheap!!

We went to Mexico Sept 6-13th. It was amazing!!!! Mexico has really reasonable prices for all inclusive resorts as well. We got the upgraded package at our resort for $2,600. That includes food, drinks, accommodations and flight for both of us.
The thing about Sept in the Caribbean is that it is during Hurricane Season. However, we got hurricane insurance for $50 each and that meant that we could cancel our trip 24hr’s before hand no questions asked! So we just watched the hurricanes before hand to make sure we were in the clear. It turned out that we had GORGEOUS weather the whole time we were there 🙂
I don’t know where you are located but I flew from Toronto to London UK for $700 (and that is the flight for one person) and my fiance went from Toronto to New Zealand (south of Australia) for $1400 (one flight for one person). So going overseas is a lot more expensive. But if you have the budget for it – go for it!
Another thing you might want to consider is the type of honeymoon you want! If you want relaxing/beach type vacation don’t go to Europe or Australia – go somewhere cheaper like Mexico or Dominican Republic. If you want a go go go sight seeing vacation and you have the money I would travel internationally!
Have fun planning!

I have a fear of flying over water, so I just stay in the states. We are heading to Las Vegas just because it is our favorite place to go and I don’t really want to go anywhere else. My FI is not much of a beachy person and I am afraid to swim in ocean water because when I was younger I lived by the beach and one day a whole bunch of jellyfish just popped up around me out of nowhere, lol. I prefer a place with a lot of attractions/things to do.
I would be careful around the bahamas/carribean/mexico etc. because September is hurricane season. Unfortunately I don’t know much about traveling internationally.

We are having the same problem of figuring out where to go! I have definitely read that the ABC islands are the best places to go. My sister went to Aruba on her honeymoon in October and had perfect weather.

Aruba and Fiji are great places to go during September and October… less likely to have bad weather or rain!

Hawaii would be beautiful. As would Belize. I’ve been to belize twice and absolutely loved it both times.

Cairns and the tropical north of Australia (Queensland) are excellent at that time – warm and sunny but not overpoweringly hot as it can get at the height of their summer.

What about the Greek Islands? That’s one of my favorites!

My brother went to Aruba in Sept. for his honeymoon, he picked it b/c he was worried about hurricanes and he loved it.

Paris is absolutely gorgeous in September and I can’t imagine a more romantic place for a honemoon!

I’m getting married on the same day and we decided on Aruba (since it is outside of the hurricane belt). I originally wanted to go to Spain but other couples advised me that my honeymoon should be relaxing and not “on the go” touring. I took their advise and am now looking at Aruba. I’ve never been so I’m excited.
