I have always used the Behr paint from Home Depot at my house and found that it works well. Lots of other people I know recommend it as well. I recently used Duron (sp?) paint and have found it to be good also. Good luck!
My dad is a carpenter and swears by Benjamin Moore... I have only used Behr in my last couple of apartments because I am too poor to buy BM, and it has held up also, though the color does come off a little when I clean the walls.
I stick with either Benjamin Moore (may be biased, used to work in one of their signature stores :) or Sherwin Williams. I've tried others but was never as happy with the results. I think SW would be my pick just because they can also make custom colors I've picked out at Lowe's/Home Depot with the exact formula. The finish also makes a huge difference and is probably why it's washing off the walls. Most contractors use lower grade paint and generally a flat finish which is NOT washable. Go for a matte finish if you don't want a lot of sheen but want something you can wipe clean easily. Also, the higher the sheen the more visible defects in the wall surface will be! I could go on for days.. I love painting :)
I work at a hardware store and we highly recommend Benjamin Moore. I've been at 2 different chains of hardware stores and both had Ben Moore. It has a lot of solid in it (the stuff that sticks to the wall) so it will work great.
My dad is in construction and just helped us get what we needed for our first painting project. We used Behr premium paint in an eggshell finish. If you use a flat finish, the paint can get chalky and can rub off when cleaning and such. I don't advise getting the Berh Premium Ultra Plus (paint and primer in one) since we still had to do two coats on a room already painted an off white color. It might be worth it if you are covering a dark color, but you'll still need at least two coats with it. The next time we used the regular Behr Premium paint (which they can match to the premium ultra plus colors as they did for us) and two coats came out beautifully.
I have heard awesome things about Benjamin Moore paint as well, but we didn't want to spend the money on it.
FFIL owns a painting company and uses all benjamin moore. we just got to use the BM corporate seats at a mets game so i'm liking that company right now :)
I've had great results with Sherwin Williams. Our local store has sales every so often. Last weekend all their paint was 40% off.
I'm in the architecture business and always go with Benjamin Moore. That is what I use for my own home, too. A little more expensive but totally worth it.

So, we're thinking about painting our condo for our personal enjoyment/getting ready to sell. We bought brand new, and our developer must have used the cheapest paint available. If you try to wipe a mark off the wall, all the paint comes with it.
Anybody have a brand/type of paint they recommend?
