I got my alterations done and am very happy except that the tailor didn't seem to know what I meant when I asked her about putting in a bustle (I didn't go to a bridal store). I'm glad she didn't pretend to know, if it's something she hasn't done before. So now I am looking for place in Vancouver, preferably near Broadway and Main, but I'll take any personal recommendations.
Haha, is that why I'm not getting any suggestions? It's just too obvious? No one has a recommendation for a bridal store that did their bustle? I hate just going to a random place.
I've found two places that are doing my alterations for my internet-ordered dress. Unfortunately, neither are close to Broadway & Main.
Magic Stich is located at "Madison Centre" near Brentwood. The owner is this really nice woman who does a really great job. She's done two of my friends dresses and she is doing all my bridesmaid dresses. Her number is (604) 444-4247 she is also *very* reasonably priced.
There is also Chantilly Bridal on Hastings and Boundary. The seamstress there is the costume designer for the Vancouver Opera...apparently she's very good too.
I just bought my dress this weekend (wooohoo) and the woman at Sposa gave me the name and number of the store that does alot of the alteration work along the bridal strip in New Westminster. I haven't used them, and it's also a bit far for you to go, but just in case you're shopping around for prices, here is the info:
Atelier Endeavour Dressmakers: 604-529-1888
If anyone has any input on the above company, pls let GB and I know!
Hey! I've heard about Endeavour! A friend of a friend had her gown made there and said the service is excellent. I got their info b/c I'm also considering having a gown made. If you end up trying it out, pls let us know how it goes! :)
