I was so excited about my 2 carat vs1 h color solitaire paired with my 7 stone 1 carat wedding band ready to pay for it and then my husband says “you know pear diamonds aren’t all that pretty to me” he says he doesn’t like them that much because they are symmetrical. NOW he tells me!!! We’ve been married 10 years and I was in the hospital 4 months ago and my nurse gives my husband my wedding ring ( which was soldered to my engagement ring) and the poor fool was so nervous about me having surgery that he forgot where he put it. In his defense he was watching our 18 month old in the waiting room (bless him). In any event, he lost it. I lived that ring. It was a simple 1 carat with pave diamonds and a half eternity wedding band. We were 22 when we got married (eloped) so it was all we could afford. I always wanted a big beautiful diamond. 1 carat was plenty big on my size 4.5 finger but I just love the weight of a 2 carat. I went back and fourth with just buying something simple and spending the money on a vacation but my honey felt guilty and said if I didn’t buy a replacement he would feel guilty forever. I am really petite and have small people syndrome where I love everything big and over sized. Well anyway my husband said he had a hard enough time doing it the first time so he wanted nothing to do with picking out a ring this time around. I was heartbroken for 3 months and now I’m antsy to get something on my finger. I’m torn between 2 settings which are for round diamonds or my pear solitaire. I love the idea of a huge diamond where there are no distractions just clear shot of a beautiful stone. But if my husband is saying he wants round they will be smaller 1.25 but the setting will have more detail to them to distract from the size. also I can’t wear a wedding band with these round settings short of getting something custom which I don’t want to do. What are your thoughts????
