I’m wanting to switch our kitty to a good-quality wet cat food, but don’t really know where to start!
I’ve had her on Friskies, Fancy Feast and Whiskas, and she liked all of them. I’ve tried to give her some of the new Iams fancy grain-free line, and she turns her nose up at it. She shows no interest in plain (human-quality) tuna, salmon or chicken… I think she’s addicted to junk food! She loves gravy-heavy wet food, and seems to prefer stinkier food.
Does anyone know of a good quality brand that might fit the bill?
(I need to be able to order and ship it in Canada)

nanoinfinity: My cat is 15 years old and I have always had her on Friskies. About 2 years ago I switched her to Hills Science Diet. You can get it at Pet Smart. I give her 1/2 cup per day of dry food (which she never eats it all in one day) and then for breakfast and dinner I give her 1/4 of a can of wet food. They also have different types of food depending on what stage of life your cat is at.
She has always been a fussy cat. I have tried several different kinds of food and she hated them all. But this food she loves!
I can honestly say that this food has done wonders for her. For a senior cat she now acts like a kitten, her fur is so soft and shiny, she hardly ever throws up, her teeth look amazing… I could go on and on about all of the positive changes.
I would really suggest trying it out!

I’m in Canada too and we feed out cats Medical by Royal Canin. We get the low fat version (two fixed male cats so we have to pay attention to their weight) at our local vet and they both love it.

Ah, I didn’t think to check our vet’s office to see what they carry there! I’ll have to do that, thanks!

I feed my cat the Mature formula by Royal Canin also bought through her vet. She is 12 and is in early stages of kidney disease so I had to switch her to the good stuff 🙂

I don’t have a cat, but I feed my dog The Honest Kitchen – quality food, no fillers. It’s pet food, but considered human grade. They make dehydrated cat food as well, just add water. I don’t think their website ships to Canada, however there are websites that do.

nanoinfinity: Just because they carry it at the vet, doesn’t mean it’s any good. They get paid to carry it. I use Chicken Soup for the Soul Adult Cat Food. Cheaper than the expensive guys and really good ingredients.

My cat has allergies so I’ve been feeding my cats Natural Balance cat food. It’s a little pricey but I get a good deal buying it from Vitacost.com. Before Natural Balance I tried Evo, but my cat wanted nothing to do with it. She’s fairly picky. She doesn’t like human food generally. She won’t eat the fancy feast appetizers. She LOVES regular canned fancy feast, but since she can’t have that now, Natural Balance seems to be satisfying her. My cats seem to like the venison more than the duck flavor. I haven’t tried the other flavors with both cats.
