    Hi Bees!

I need some help coming up with a good song for my father/daughter dance. My dad's not a dancer (he literally has only danced ONCE in his life -- one dance with my mom at my brother's wedding) and he's REALLY nervous about our dance. So, we're going to take some lessons and the first one is coming up in about 10 days. He wants to have our song picked out first so that we can practice to the song (so cute). We're only going to have 2 or 3 lessons since I live back east and he's in AZ.

Anyway, here's the list I've come up with so far, but none of them feel quite right:

    Unforgettable - Natalie Cole

Father & Daughter - Paul Simon

    My Girl - The Temptations

What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

Any other ideas? What have you seen used that was really touching and appropriate, or heard that you thought would make a good father-daughter dance song? Something easy to dance to and not too long :)

    Thanks!

My father and I are dancing to I loved her first as well. I asked him if he had any special choice for this and he said no. Then he called me about a week later and you could tell he had cried a little and told me he heard this on the radio and immediatley thought of me and it brought him to tears. I love my dad :)

I'm thinking of using 'I turn to you'.  It was originally done in the 90s by the group All 4 One but later covered by Christina Aguilera - the lyrics just really fit with mine and my dad's relationship - I suggest going with something that will have some meaning to both you and your dad.  I think I am going to try and get a friend to sing it accapella since my dad love's accapella music but if that doesnt work out I'm going with the All 4 One version vs. Christina Aguilera.

BUT I must say the 'I loved her first song' is a total tear jerker and might stay on the list as a 'maybe' in case I change my mind.  I've also had a few friends use Daughter by Loudon Wainwright so that's a good fit too.

I've had a lot of father/daughters use "I Loved her first" and also "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. (I choreograph dances and give dance lessons). My dad and I are doing "Sunshine of my life" by Stevie Wonder... we're doing a joint parent dance with my FI and his mom.

I've been thinking about this, and realised that if I wanted my mum to bawl her eyes out, I would just have to us 'Sunrise, Sunset' for that dance.

And there's over 50 different versions on iTunes ( I was looking at them moments before I saw this thread!) and I just found a Welsh male choir singing it, which combines mine and mum's love of musicals and our British heritage. It might be perfect!

Plus, there is nothing on this earth that sounds as beautiful as Welsh choirs, in my opinion. :)
