As part of the gift exchange the day of the wedding, I want to give FI a nice bottle of tequila (also an inside joke).  Any suggestions, as I am NOT a tequila drinker?

I like Jose, but that's just me. There's another brand I can't think of the name for. It's supposedly smooth, but I hated the way it made my tounge feel.

Patron is one of my favs but expensive, I also really like Reposa 1800 I think its called. But for my cheap self I usually get Sauza Blanc cuz I love me some margaritas!

patron is probably the tequila that you want. it's anywhere from $40-$100+, but it's goooood tequila. patron is a good tequila to drink on it's own (not mixed with anything).

i buy 1800 to put in my margaritas and they always taste great! i'm too cheap to buy patron. lol!

Resposa was the one that made my tounge feel weird! lol. Thanks, MrsSl8@be! lol.

    Patron is good, too!

I like to have mine straight. No lime/lemon. No salt. No nothing. So I think it may depend on what you're looking for?

I don't mind splurging for a good bottle. I think FI has mentioned liking Patron.  Now, I know I have seen several different colors of Patron bottles. Does it matter which one I get?  It would be for drinking it straight, not mixed.

    I prefer Patron Anejo; I think it's smoother.  Here's a link:

Patron is good, but the best, personally (and i LOVE tequila) is Tarantula Azul Tequila. its blue, and is soooo good you can just drink it :)

Tres Generaciones, Corzo or Don Julio.  Patron is great as well.  And pay attention to whether or not he normally drinks silver or gold, though I think most silver tequilas are better for sipping, but that's me...

Patron is the best I've had.  Yummy!  Great for sipping...but a waste of good tequila to use in mixed drinks, in my opinion.  I think it is about $50 a fifth.

Whatever you decide to buy, make sure it is 100% agave.  Anything that isn't is just awful!  When I lived in Mexico, my friends down there used to joke about Cuervo specifically, saying that they wouldn't drink it even if it was the only thing available!

Talk to the person at the counter at your local party store, they should be able to help you find a good bottle in your price range!

patron platinum, goes for $25/shot at my boyfriend's bar... goes down like water.  I'm sure there's even another step up.  Make sure to pack some kosher salt and limes! (I even like it with oranges, takes the bite out of it even quicker! although I can't even smell tequila anymore :( )

    Patron

    Don Julio

    Herradura

    Corralejo

    Cazadores

    El Mayor

Dos Lunas Anejo - best tequila I've ever had! And I've had A LOT Of tequila lol, it's my favorite liquor.

With any high end tequila you really can't go wrong wtih any of the varieties - blanco/silver (distilled and bottled immediately), reposado (aged 3-12 months), anejo (aged 1-3 years). It's more a matter of personal preference. :)

Corralejo, all three of them (blanco, reposado, and anejo), is a really good high quality tequila and is almost 1/2 the cost of Patron. I pay in the high $20s for a bottle of the silver.

The FI and I LOVE Patron Silver (the clear bottle with the green ribbon).  You can get the huge bottle at Costco for around $80.

Thanks everybody.  Ironically, FI and I were in the car this morning, and the DJ was saying something about Patron Silver, and FI said "MMMMmmm." It's a sign! Patron Silver it is!

I can't drink any tequila except Patron Silver. It's the smoothest, hands down.
