DH and I desperately want to plan a vacation – but we really aren’t sure where to. We’ll have a big international trip probably in the next year or so, but are thinking we want to get away for about a week, maybe around September. We live in California and DH’s family lives in Seattle, so probably not these two places. 🙂 Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Well Vegas is a good vacation location. There are tons of small getaways in California if you haven’t been to those places.

@star_dust: We just did Vegas last month for DH’s 30th birthday – it was fun, but I think we’re thinking of something much more laid back. Just to get away from home and work. 🙂
Hmm we’ll be in Idaho for BIL/FSIL’s wedding at the beginning of September…maybe something up in the north…. 😛

Do you like the outdoors? What about one of the national parks like Yellowstone or Glacier?

@SimpleGifts: Yes, we love national parks for sure. We’ve floated the idea of maybe Glacier National Park, which I haven’t been in at least 15 years…

@pengoala: I’m planning a trip there this summer and absolutely cannot wait! I really want to go into Waterton on the Canadian side as well to do some hiking.

I’m a huge beach lover, so I’m always down for Miami. FI and I also REALLY want to go to New Orleans!

We went to Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor for our honeymoon in October for a week.. We loved it there! But we wanted a trip that had a lot of hiking & outdoor stuff.

I would also do one of the national parks somewhere in the CO, MT, WY, ID area. Of course I would prefer early August for any of those but September would be nice (and just a bit colder). Otherwise I would vote for Florida or somewhere else along the east coast (maybe Charleston or Savannah like someone else mentioned)

I haven’t been to too many places, but I absolutely adore Charleston, SC. It definitely has the laid back vibe you want and there’s just so much to do and see there. If you stay downtown, you’ll probably get to walk to the majority of the sites other than plantations, Fort Sumpter, or the beach.

Sanibel Island, FL – my dad took us to Florida beaches every year for vacation growing up even though we live in seattle. I honestly prefer Florida to Hawaii for the beaches.
