I think loose updo’s look beautiful with some kind of part for a softer look.  Hair pulled tightly back with nothing around the face seems a little harsh and less flattering in my opinion.  I had a loosly curled low side chignon for my wedding.  I attached my actual hairdo and my inspiration photo (Kristen Bell).

@miss.skinner

You just made my day! I’ve been trying to describe (and find a picture of) what I want and that’s it! Is your hair naturally wavy or curly?

I think it depends on if you have cheekbones. If you have strong cheekbones, an updo is gorgeous on you. I am plus sized and I DON’T have cheekbones, thus updo’s make my face look too round and full. So, I will have my hair down and wavy to frame the face.

@beckaboo–Yes I do have naturally wavy hair but I don’t believe Kristen Bell does so obviously it can be done with straight hair.  My hairstylist just asked me to come with my hair naturally wavy and she curled the pieces that were acting funny.  I thought she did a great job.  I don’t have my professional pics back yet except for my teaser that I showed above.  But she did have the cute braid and everything in my hair.  I loved it.
