Well, we joked that as soon as we found a house we loved (pics can be seen starting (this thread) and settled down J would get his dream job and that's exactly what happened. He will start with a small community college in Colorado in July as the facilities manager and then put together a rodeo program that will start competing in the fall of 2011!

It hasn't been completely squared away yet but right now I'm planning on staying here through August, possibly through November.  (We'll pretend I could actually tolerate being long distance, a 6 hour drive, for that long when I didn't have to be.)

As much as we love our house and will be sad to leave it, I'm excited for something new.  Even if that means a small town (pop. 2,300) and the closest city (or is it still a town if it only has 8,600 people?) is 50 miles away.  On the other hand, it's only 100 miles from my home town and even though my dad is my only family still living there, he's excited enough for several people.  It really makes one feel loved.  :-)

So does anyone have any experience with moving from a really awesome house to a not so great one?  Maybe some tips for keeping upbeat about it?  We don't know for sure yet where we'll be living but let's just say the rental market doesn't appear huge so I'm not very optimistic.  (The local newpaper had 2 ads and the realty companies basically none.)  I'm hoping word of mouth produces more but just in case, I'm fantasizing about finding a steal-of-a-deal Airstreamer and we can just live in that for a year.  Have you guys seen how amazing the interiors are now?!  I had no idea!  (You just have to completely ignore the pricetag it comes with!)

ETA: Hmmm...Not sure why the text is so tiny.  Sorry about that!

We almost went on the road for the FH's job, we talked about a third wheel (some of them are as big as our house and possibly more storage).  I could totally do that as long as it had a large bath tub, very few do.  I so miss small town living.  I am a team roper and totally love seeing to programs start.  Congrats on the job and good luck in the new town.

@Serabell - I've looked on craigslist but there are exactly zero places for rent on there right now.  Actually, that's not true.  There's one posting of someone looking for a rental.  :-)  It's not too surprising though.  And we own our house.  We closed on it 3.5 months ago which is part of why it's such a big joke for us.  We JUST moved in after being under contract since before Thanksgiving.  It'll work out fine though.  We'll just rent it out.

@tksjewelry - I'm pretty excited to be back in a small town although I was hoping for the nearby big town to be a little closer.  My hometown was about that size growing up and feels rather similar.  It kind of feels like going home again.  :-)  Then again, I've only spent a half a day there so far.  Hopefully I still feel the same way once we get out there!

Congrats on the great job!  We moved from our decent house to an icky rental.  It sort of makes me sad but it's a temporary thing.  We didn't want to buy a house in a new city without being sure that we liked it here and wanted to stay here.  So we are planning to buy in a few years and sell our old house.
