- Wedding: March 2013
I’ve got my wedding calendar technology mostly set up and wanted to share it with you.
I wanted to make a digital itinerary of our wedding day that included event times, linkable maps, etc that guests can have handy on their iPhones. Google calendars is totally easy for that, so I made a specific google calendar for the wedding day. I created an event for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. In the details section of the event I linked to a google map that included the site and parking.
I imbedded the calendar into our website using these instructions:
The fun part is that your google calendar has a web address associated with it that if you click on it, you download an iCal file. Opening it sticks all events into your iCal. So one click on your website using an iPhone and your guest has the full days itinerary, addresses, and maps ready to go. To get that address, follow these instructions to get the “iCal” private address:
Any other suggestions? One problem I’m having is if you click on any event, there is automatically a “map” button, which just directs you to a google map search. I’d like to be able to replace that link with the google map that I’ve customized. Does anyone know how to do that?
