This is just something I am wondering about. Have you ever googled something wedding related in general and had a weddingbee post come up that you started? I did that today, and it was kind of weird. I don't really want my real life and weddingbee to overlap. I would never post anything that I wouldn't say in real life just to be sure, but perhaps I post things I wouldn't say to certain people who could technically find it on here, as this is an open forum. Does anyone else ever think about this? I am particularly curious for the people who use their real names as their posting names. I just googled one user who has part of her real name on here just to see and got her myspace and all her weddingbee posts. Does that weird anyone out as much as it does me?

That's one reason why I have never used my name on here.  Yes, if someone found my account and looked at the pictures, they would know it was me but I wouldn't want someone googling my name to find this account.

I realized my mistake soon after joining:(  I use this screenname for just about everything.  I meant to log into one of my email accounts, but instead typed the name into the search bar - next thing I knew I was presented with every weddingbee threat I'd started.  Wedding trumps pretty much any other site I use apparently!

My mistake also brought to light that fact that my photobucket acct was public which I QUICKLY changed!!

I did a search for my screen name and it turns out it is the name for a christening-ware company! And some girl has a facebook/myspace with that first name. Well, at least my personal info isn't out there for everybody! Oh, it did pull up my weddingbee acct, but that's okay.  :-)

I am safe b/c I created my username specifically for this site. I have posted pictures of myself in different threads but unless you get to one of those posts via google by accident you will never be able to connect "Jamaicabride" to my real life. Also...apparently there is another Jamaicabride....maybe several on other online communities =)

I love the flowers and the meaning of Amaryllis, but it has the added benefit of not coming up on google. Like MissAsB, if someone happened upon my weddingbee posts, it'd be easy enough to figure out who I am if you knew me in real life, but you'd really have to be looking.

@Rosie...I googled your username and your weddingbee stuff was on the first page of hits. It's definitely there.

I've come to terms with the fact that my identity is very public here, so I've just started watching what I say more :)

I was using my real name username for my first few posts, but now I've changed it to a pseudonym. My real name isn't anything close to Katelyn, but I used that as a pseudonym when I first started publishing stuff online when I was in high school so it works for me. Luckily, I've only been posting for like 2 days so there's not a whole lot out there.

Yes, my username, or even random wedding searches sometimes turn up my posts. It doesn't really bother me because my username is not linked to Facebook, nor does it contain my real name. I have posted my first name on here, but even though it is non-traditional, Google usually reads it as part of a word as it is a suffix on a few words.

I used this name on another "blog based" website, so stuff for that comes up too!

I had the same problem with a different site which i used my main email address name for and it has my full name in it. Now when people search my real name, they can read everything i ever said on that site. very embarrassing as it is a weight loss site.

    oops!

Yep! As much as I would love to share wedding pics and such, I won't do it because I like a certain level of anonymity on any message board. And that's mostly because I use them frequently to vent to a group that I know will understand :) If anyone came on here and saw that I was venting about them, well, I wouldn't like that, of course.

I only have this username for Weddingbee, so that's all that comes up. I looked up my username that I used for most other stuff like FB and it seems to be a popular one bc I looked through the first 3 pages of results and none of them were me. I have like 4 or 5 different usernames across the web.
